Have you seen all those Actions?
Yes Kenny... I was just kidding you a little ... you do a great job.

as to actions, oh yeah, and then there are the custom ones that I have made, along with some others have made, along with various python scripts as actions that get included in some custom actions...

I think I was into reaper for a year before I really got into the actions and started to 'get it'... now it seems fairly easy and natural to me, but there are still some obscure actions whose workings in a custom action string are not clear to me...

Fortunately there are mentors here like jnif, gofer, jeffos, Xen, Darkstar, etc. who have that stuff whipped like the lama's ass.. and who I must greatly appreciate for their super help. [thanks to you all!]

Just wanted to mention that Groove3 is running a one week only sale on Reaper Tutorials:

Both Reaper Explained and Reaper Tips and Tricks are half price.

Reaper 4 Explained - Don't Fear the Reaper

Reaper Tips and Tricks

Along with the newly released (and also on sale)

Reaper Advanced - the SWS Extensions

Thanks for the support.

Your sale must be a success; took me a few tries to d/l Reaper Tips and Tricks. Now I got all 3!

Next up suggestions: A tutorial on MIDI and perhaps one on all the things that have changed since these tutorials were made. That should keep you busy for a while.

Thanks for all your work,
Dave

Just saw this. Any chance you would extend the sale price?

I was going to ask if there was a bundle deal.

Probably not, but Groove3 is always running a sale (they 'rotate' the products). Just keep an eye open.

I'm not sure about the 'bundle' but they offer an 'all-access' pass that is killer (especially when its on sale ).

if you click those links they still appear to be on sale for $19.99

I definitely recommend getting the All Access if you're going to watch online, by far the best deal.

See here: http://www.groove3.com/str/access-it-all.html.

There's a 'drop-down' list with pricing options.

Thanks for the support.

I don't want to steer anyone away from the best possible deal but consider the way you might be using these videos. If it's just to view once or twice than an All Access Pass might be the best option, but if it's a resource that you're going to go back to over and over, owning it does have it's advantages.

Thanks again

Over and over here. I learn something new each time. All 4 videos were very good investments and I have no regrets buying them.

YMMV.

I would love to but I believe that's a very narrow scope and I don't even know how to theme or use Walter.

My next title in Reaper will be a production or mixing title.

Thanks.

Yes. Many people bought Mixing Rock even if they don't use Pro Tools as I kept it non-DAW specific but I'm sure some would prefer to see it in their DAW.

I think seeing the hands-on techniques applied on video really help ppl learn the stuff...better than books...except as reference.

Hi Kenny: I was wondering.....

a) How long did it take you to have a good grasp/foundation of Reaper after Pro Tools?

b) How long did it take you to become a power-user of Reaper?

Thank you.

I'd say about a month. It helped that I made the tutorials as that forced me to learn a lot more than most people need to get going.

hi Kenny,
i need a suggestion about "tab to transient" function in Reaper (seen on drum editing video).

In your video, you use kick and snare to search for transients, using transient detector, and then to cut all drum tracks at once.
that's cool, but what if i've some other tracks in drum group that have an higher volume than kick and snare? transient detection becomes a mess...

so i'm asking you: is there a way to detect transients in kick and snare ONLY, and then cut all drum tracks at once?

Thanks!

Bye

p.s.
great videos, by the way...

Not sure what you mean. If we're only using the Kick and Snare track to find transients, what else would be popping through on those tracks?

Toms?

Providing they're in time you could cut at toms too

Problem solved, my mistake...
I was missing the part when you selected only the kick track and snare track...

so, if i've understand correctly, transient sensitivity works on selected tracks (kick and snare) but, when i've found my useful transients, the split has effect on all selected media items (all drum tracks).... is it correct?

Thanks!

Correct.

And you could add Tom tracks to the track that we're detecting if you need those as well. Although, I would just add the Toms when they're being hit. Not the whole track.

Thanks.

Didn't you say a while back that you were going to do a production tutorial from start to finish entirely in REAPER? I might be mistaken but I think I read that somewhere here on the forum.
