Default Reaper Suddenly Takes a Long Time To Save Project?

I noticed that my Reaper suddenly takes like 5 seconds to save a project, instead of instantly like it always have been.
This happens even on a literally empty project, and on an SSD.
Any ideas?

I don't think so.
Empty project was like 3kb and a pretty busy project is around 5mb.

Sometimes, as drives start approaching >80-90% capacity, write operations will tend to slow down. Drives in need of optimization will tend to slow down during write operations as well.

Are you using anything new, or has anything changed on your system since the save process started taking longer?

Both my SSD and HDD are fairly new and have plenty of free space.
(I also worked with almost full drives on my previous computer and never had this issue)
I don’t recall changing anything in Reaper or my PC that made the issue appear.

I've noticed this as well. Just a short lag before the project saves. No drive issues (capacity, optimization or otherwise) here. Not sure when this started, but it's recent.

Yeah it’s definitely recent for me too, very strange!

I have a similar problem.
Saving time is around 5 sec when added 10 Kontakt 6 instances of action strike.
The empty project saves in a blink of an eye.

Update: Seems that Action Strike creates ridiculous long saving time and not only in reaper. Same in Studio One. With other libraries all is fine.

This is actually becoming very noticeable since it happens on autosave too, so every 3 minutes I’ll get a few seconds freeze!

It’s probably because that Kontakt patch is large. How big is the rpp save file?

I've noticed long save times when the undo history is lengthy, especially when running from my flash drive. If I remove the undo entries from several sessions ago, saves go back to being quick again. I don't care about losing entries since I back up undo files with my projects.

I've never had it happen on an empty project.

Update: All of a sudden it takes like 2 seconds to save, rather than the 5+ seconds before.
I didn't change anything or tried to solve it in any way...

I tried adding action strike and it seems like it instantly adds 10 MB to the project every time you add a new instance of it. Which is probably why it instantly slows down the saving as soon as you add it.

Same here. Maybe a bad optimisation kontakt version?

It depends on the library that you use in Kontakt. If the library has a lot of code to encrypt, it takes a lot of time and space in the RPP file. Simple libraries or samples are ok. There doesn't seem to be interest in optimizing or fixing this.
