Thanks for fixing this.

There are still some usability issues related to this.

When using default mouse modifiers and shift double clicking over a note of secondary item (overlapping with active item) the mouse cursor is a pencil (indicating 'insert note'), but it should be an arrow because it is changing the active item, not inserting a note. EDIT: Actually, before clicking, Reaper does not know if the mouse operation is going to be drag or double click. So, Reaper does not know which cursor it should show, pencil or arrow. This just shows that the default mouse modifiers are not user-friendly.
On the other hand, some people might feel like the default mouse modifiers are now broken. You cannot insert notes ignoring snap on top of secondary item's notes using shift double click.
Also, it is very easy to accidentally insert a very short note when trying to change active item. This happens because MIDI piano roll shift + left drag is "Insert note ignoring snap, drag to extend or change pitch". It is easy to accidentally do a tiny drag when trying to use shift + double click.
So, maybe those default mouse modifiers should be somehow reorganized.

Another related isssue is the editability change behavior when using the "Activate MIDI item (when clicking a note that is not in the active item)" action. In some workflows it would be useful to keep the previous active item editable. It seems to be impossible now. The previous active item is always changed to visible / uneditable.

Thx you very much ! It would be great if all midi actions or scripts could work with inactive midi items !

Thanks. It seems to be error free so far. I think it would be good to have (an additional) method to switch and leave currently active item as editable too.

Thanks you. Works as expected here except one case. Item image is not copied when drawn with ctrl+left drag track modifier.

Maybe a new option ? It would be so nice if inside midi editor, there is will not active or inactive midi items, but only items which we can edit in the exact same way.
