Will REAPER be PARES?
I'm not the first one who noticed the changed (twice now) subtitle on the REAPER homepage. It now reads Powerful Audio Recording and Editing Software, and I wonder: will it be PARES v.1.0? And is there a need for a name change because of the 3D game called REAPER as well? (see http://reaper3d.sourceforge.net/index.html).
I would deplore the loss of REAPER as a name, but I'm sure Justin is able to come up with something better than PARES. He'd even better call it PRIMUS, if we think of the 'primus inter pares' quotation.

No,no...PRIMUS is a well-known band
And why not keep the name REAPER?
It's not a game,it's an audio editing/production software program = very different

I'm all for keeping it, of course. I just wondered about the changing 'subtitle' whose capitals used to form the word REAPER (Rapid Environment for Audio Prototyping and Efficient Recording). And one could imagine that unique software is looking for a unique name.
BTW nobody I suppose knows that cheapish 3D reaper game which seems to be directed to the utterly stupid (shooting and bombing trash )- although shooting and bombing appear to be mighty popular these days, alas.

I think that text is more to lure the potential customers. This sounds "more powerful" than the previous one."Sensible" sounds too old-school and the first one sounded too strange.

petramar,it's not the grim reaper, but a normal farmer reaping the abundant, healthy crops you should fear.
So,fear the farmer

Part of naming anything these days has to be to do with how readily Google will pin it down. Searching for Reaper of course turns up all sorts of irrelevant stuff. Search for Reaper Audio and you still get the games stuff in part, though gratifyingly Reaper does seem to come to the top of the pile.

If the name REAPER is already taken, then calling it "Cockreap" (Cockos + Reaper) would guarantee a unique name.Just google for this.Although this name sounds kinda silly.
Or a better idea will be calling it simply "Reaper Studio". Google for this and see what you'll find.Image-Line Software had the same problem with Fruity Loops being similar to Kellogg's Froot Loops,so they changed it to FL Studio.

...not as silly as all the Lorena Bobbitt jokes that come to mind... ;-)
