Default When is the FX chain applied in the Batch File Converter?

I asked this question in newbieland 20 days ago and nobody answered it. I will now ask it here.

"In batch operations, is the FX chain applied before or after sample rate conversion?

It's physically placed 'after it' in the options window, but I just want to be sure. Does it resample and THEN apply the FX?"

If anyone would answer I would be very obliged.

Also a more esoteric question, in case a passing programmer happens to see it: when reaper exports to a 32-bit float format, how does it convert down from the 64-bit internal representation?

You have
- the sample rate of any media associated with a track, which all might be different .
. the project sample rate
- the sample rate of the target media you select when rendering

So there are multiple optional conversions.

I understand that the plugins are run with the project sample rate and hence sit in the middle.

Thank you for your reply, but I meant—in the File menu—the "Batch file/item converter"

IIRC, this does not use FX at all.

It can optionally use (apply) an FX chain.

yes, reaper DOES rock, and the question i am asking here is "is the fx chain applied before or after the file's samplerate is changed?"

I really don't know.

Does Reaper show the GUI of the plugins when running this kind of rendering ? If yes you could do a JSFX that shows the sample rate.

You can have the used FX chain and the contained plugin GUIs visible while the batch converter is working and the plugins 'show activity' (I just tried with a spectrum analyzer).

oh, duh, you're right! sorry, that was a goofy mistake to make.

Anyway it looks like it DOES resample stuff before applying the FX. Awesome. Thank you for nudging me in the right direction, guys.

I also couldn´t figure this out completely yet. Can anyone of the programmers comment on when the FX chain is applied? Before or after sample rate conversion? Thank you.

In the batch converter, sample rate conversion => FX => postprocessing (fades, brickwall, etc).
