Ambient looping music
With all my sessions with other loopers we find that for what we do, we don't need the metronome or clicktrack. Also I have never reset the bpm/bpi on my server config since I started using it. It does not matter even when we play more rhythmic type stuff. We just listen to what comes to us and react to it. It works great. Anyone have thoughts on this? AndyMc? Damned?

After a while we all get used to the met and work with it, I hear ya when ya say working with out it but bpi is needed for key changes, maybe on soundscaping its not as important.
But for most times its needed or all sound out of key to each other, then if we use bpi to keep all in same keys the met has to be followed also but for the type of stuff you mentioned its not as important unless there's lots of key changes then when a few are connected it could sound a mess.
But it is nice to be free of the met sometimes.

I hear ya, but that said I am not adverse to using it if needed. It would just take playing with people who change chords and stuff once in awhile , lol

Yeah, it is really depending
It's really depending on what kind of music and stuff you want to do.
The bpi/bpm stuff is needed when you have a progression that is shared by everyone in the jam.
But, for a direct example, if one in the jam would take care of all the rythm part, and all the others only soloing / tripping / experimenting / whatever, the bpi/bpm is not needed.
But as soon as 2 or more people are working altogether on some basic progression, you have to fit inside bpi and stick to bpm for them to be able to work on it.
It's a great thing, and it's the greatest doom at the same time, as no changes in the progression could be "simultaneous", and no beat changes too.

When I started using NINJAM I spent the first day learning about it, the 2nd day arguing with people how the BPI works cos not many understood or knew how it worked, the 3rd Day being a God and it was so glorious, people worshiped me all over the world, then the 4th day I was out, they found themselves a new god and I was a mere peasant again.
BTW, now I sit in a void waiting for a big bang to occur or something similar so I can get the hell out of here, could you maybe pull me from the binds of this void with some music?.
Something Translucent with Pulsating Waves to penetrate the outta space surrounding the inner void.
