Default Colouring Muted clips

I would like to define how much "darkness" is applied to Muted items.

Here's a couple of screenshots - the 5th and 6th columns of clips show the suggested effect of lightening the darkness.

yes very useful.

Also, I saw a mockup by somebody where muted clips had a diagonal-lines sort of grayed out pattern. That would also add some spice to define a semi-transparent bitmap pattern to overlay over muted events.

I agree with this because the red "m" disappears if the lane is too small.

2013 bump
still no option for this?

I have confusion of what is selected and what is muted
When you have a track that is muted.. then next to it a track that is muted and has takes, a selected item in another track which also is darker.. and an unmuted normal track with takes with the unactive takes darker... a mess

any way to disable this? I feel just fine by looking at the M red button active in red to know that that track is muted.

How I wish I never found this thread. I was 100% sure that it's a standard option somewhere. It must be. It's one of the fundamental thing.
Apparently not

+1 would be great to change the degree or color of shading.

Ooops, that's really an old thread: 13 years, that's an eternity!

In Reaper, distinguishing between item states is a bit tricky.
The different states are:

-- item is not selected (base state)
-- item is selected
-- item is grouped (there is an icon for)
-- item is muted (there is an icon M in red)
-- item is pooled (there is also an icon for)

If the items are so small that you can't see any icons, then
you lose track.

My suggestion: If the item is pooled, you could put the font
in italics.
