Default Importing templates

Someone created a template for me so to get me started. I open the template in Reaper and I have a basic setup (compression, equalisation, reverb) to get me started. I click on the "guitar" track, for example (where the effects are already added) and record my guitar and so on for vocals, back-up vocal). I can still adjust them if I want to but have I basic template to start with.

This is great for a new project but does anybody have any idea how I could import this into an existing project?

I don't know how he created the template but it just looks like a Reaper file to me so if I am in an old project and try to open the template it asks if I want to save the present project then opens the template.

Any ideas please?

not to be snippy but really you want to download the free user guide pdf

there are a number of ways ... you can load up an empty project with just his template in it.. then select whatever track you want and save it as a track template... likely without the media and you can then bring that track into other projects

you can save all the FX on any track as an FX Chain and then load that chain to any other track...

It sounds like what he made you was a whole Project Template... which is fine but then you save out both track templates and FX Chains from that

Thanks for your reply, Hopi. No you don't sound snippy.
True I should consult the user guide more but I find some of the terminology a bit baffling at times.

yeah that can be true, but it is also a good way to get used to the reaper terminology... which you will need to know more and more as time goes on.

and just think... nowadays it is searchable and has links to words....

way back when it did not have those nice features...
