Plug-in GUI Resizing
I'm currently re-factoring some of my plug-in UI framework - one of the things to come out of this was a better way to handle plug-in UI resizing. In most hosts (Ardour, Bitwig Tracktion / Waveform etc) this seems to work (surprisingly) quite well (VST2 was never really intended to do 'live' resizing, so this will always be a bit 'creative' - VST3 does have the ability, but, as in most other plug-in related things, every host handles it differently, and almost none as suggested in the SDK...)
However - Reaper has always had something of a 'uniquely complex' way of handling UI resizing - (options to select auto resizing with the plug-in up, but not down and vice-versa.. etc etc - other hosts just follow what the plug-in does, transmitted via sizeWindow in VST2 ?) Can I put in a request for someone to take a look at how to handle this in Reaper (Linux) in a more rational / consistent way? |
