Can't fully tune my bass with ReaTune

Seems like ReaTune doesn't hear anything lower than the A string on my bass - as I recall out of memory - more or less that frequency.

Am I missing something? Some settings I didn't see?

I like to use ReaTune as a guitar/bass tuner, but I can't fully tune a bass guitar. Yes? No?

You mean just like having ReaTune tell you where you are so you can tune the thing? Not actually using ReaTune to fix the tuning? I use GTune for that. Somebody recently put out a JS strobe tuner, but I haven't tried it.

Anyway, the lowest frequency ReaTune can recognize depends on the window size parameter. I don't know how to tell you mathematically what it needs to be for a given frequency, but if you make it longer, it should get better.

Change the window size to 100 or 200 ms. It takes more time for the longer waveform. That should work but if it doesn't, using harmonics should work if you aren't tuning based on fretted notes.

Ahhh I look into GTune and JS strobe tune. Also with try changing the window size.

I don't use ReaTune to tune my instruments. Sometimes the vocal, but I don't like it - I sometimes hear artifacts, especially for word with S's, CH's, L's, P's and so on. If anything I'll auto-tune a support track to help me hit a high note - a companion dub track - then delete it once I sang it properly.

ReaTune works great for tuning instruments, even bass, you just have to lower the window size like Karbo says.

ReaTune in manual mode is also great for tweaking vocals, if it's used properly there aren't any artifacts. Well, heh heh,
unless the vocal or solo instrument is way off. I also don't use ReaTune (or any other FX) for trying to create harmonies.
