Default I don't understand EZ Drummer 2

It's the preset patterns- what is the heirachical arrangement of these as relates to kit? It seems that whenever I choose a kit (I have the vintage rock expansion puck), I'm taken to a new list of patterns. EZD2 just has so many levels of folders! I'm hoping someone can help

I just choose the Kit then choose the pattern style from any Toontrack midi or third party midi, you can do a search to find the beat you need.
Other than that someone else might be able to help you better.

You might be able to use this also NAudio Midi File Mapper it will map to or from EZD and others

Both covert and mapper here.

You might find both the EZD2 user manual and the Toontrack user forums useful in terms of more sdpecialised help. I have beta tested for TT for a couple of years or more & trust me EZDs way of doing things is really very straightforward once you realise what you need to do.

For instance, once you select the kit you want to use, if you click on the broweser button you will see ALL the available MIDI clips ordered by the name of all the EZXs that you have installed. Once you get to the MIDI clips that appear under the header of the EZX you are using, it is just a case of auditioning them till you find what you want or as close to it as possible.

If the only EZX you have is the one that comes with EZD2, needless to say you are only going to see MIDI that relates to that. Since you also have the Vintage Rock EZX, in your specific case all you are seeing is the MIDI that is linked to the two Kit setups you own. Basic EZD and the Vintage Rock.

Get back to us if you need more.

EZD has specific definitions:
1) EZX defines the set of kit pieces. So the number of toms, cymbals, etc.
2) "kit" defines which sound is used for particular pieces (kit menu is inside piece configuration dialog, really strange place since it modifies all pieces at once).
3) preset defines the mixing for EZX, so which channels and FXes should be used

Patterns can be "general", so can work with any or most EZX, but can be EZX specific. F.e. if you do not have China in current EZX, corresponding patterns are not going to sound right.

The number of patterns/MIDI is huge. So the interface tries to help you find what you want quickly. In the "Search" you can see the whole list or use "Filter", a set of properties which pattern should have to be shown. In the "Browser" you are guided by selecting mutual exclusive properties, tempo -> style -> song part.

I did it by watching YouTube videos. So much good stuff out therre. And even EZD2 with Reaper videos as well.
