There can never be enough drumkits. I might turn this into a self-contained Kontakt instrument, with effects and stuff, as time allows.
That would be awesome, Dragon!

Hi, evb!

I need some help to make this work (with RS). For some reason when I point REAPER to the samples folder it doesn't see them (I haven't modified anything - just extracted "Sample Pack 1" folder into my drum samples folder), iow, I would have to browse for each single sample manually if I wanted to make this work. I know that I'm missing something simple but have no idea what that is. Tnx in advance.

Cheers,
Alex

Default Thx BigCat

You didn't hurt my feelings BC, was just scouring the interwebz for a link to ED's Kontakt setup, you're the man...and ED too.

edit: didn't read this page, apparently there are naming fixes by EvilDragon so this may just work out of the box! Grab link above.

I have finally finished mapping this kit to SFZ - for my own sanity however I fixed all the mistakes in the file names so you will have to fix them too to use these, I'm afraid. I didn't keep a list of what I did.

Also you will notice the site has gone down. I have found Mr. Smith's twitter and instagram which seem fairly up to date so I will contact him to ask if I can upload the files in their fixed format along with the SFZ files.

I recommend loading these into Sforzando SFZ player so you can see the mapping visually and because it tells you about missing files.

Anthing with high or low pitches is mapped to octaves of the keyboard, except kick drum which is all grouped together. Following GM mapping is impossible with a kit this size and breadth but I did my best to keep things at least near their GM position.

Hi hat comes in two different sizes which you can interchange by swapping the SFZ files, they are mapped the same. Likewise with snare to flip between loose, tight, and open.

In Reaper if you want to change your snare part to a higher pitched drum for example, just use the action 'Item Properties: Pitch item up one octave' on all items in your snare track, this was in my mind since starting the mapping.

If I can redistribute this will be easy for you, until then, sorry! Just keep loading things into Sforzando as it will tell you what is missing/broken and you can fix it.

Most mistakes are:
wrong drum tuning in filename i.e. -HP-
wrong drum type in filename i.e. -Bl- or -HdE-
inconsistent naming i.e. -E- instead of -Ed-
typos i.e. -v-1 instead of -v01

If I knew what I changed I could make a bash script to rename your copy, but I won't bother anyway since the original download link is now gone.

This drum kit is is truly AWESOME.

Hi Fergler,

I've just had a look at your mappings and I'm not sure what your thinking is:

You've mapped all the velocity splits to play at random rather than their respective velocity range.

Hey Bigcat.
Does this download include the SFZ mappings?
I don't want to commit to a 1.3GB download to find it's for Kontakt only.

I'm sorry it is Kontakt only. Hope you didn't download all that for nothing.

No worries. I held off.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Once I get SFZ Designer down this might be something to take a crack at.
Would I be able to use the samples from ED's Kontakt pack or would I need to get them straight from Freesounds?

They are in ncw format in ED's pack, so that wouldn't work. I think the wave files are all organized and named as I wanted in this mediafire directory.

I don't know if that helps at all. It looks like the first three or four files are duplicates, not sure what I was doing?

It definitely helps. The Smithultd website originally hosting the files is gone. Thank you.

Fergler - you responded to me but I don't see your comment on the thread.
I did see that you had worked on SFZ for these, but I wasn't sure whether your faux paus with the velocity splits was a major or minor one.
