I primed myself by listening to lots of Orbus Terrarum by The Orb, which is sort of organic record with alien ambience and big, hall-reverby drums coming through once in a while. Tried to emulate that a bit (didn't happen) and it came out kinda loud and not as ambienty as I planned. I think there's also an Esperanto language broadcast, broken weather robot and a 29B6 OTH radar in there too.
My So Ambient It Hertz playlist has almost 20 minutes now. It's almost as long as one proper ambient piece. I'm a fast food ambient guy. ADHDbient.

Actually, the video fits jam up with the music; I got a Fallout feel. Really like the drum room in this. Do you use any mono synths? If so, which one(s)? Lately they've been capturing my ear more than polys. Joy Electric's Mono Synth got me started. Love love love that song.
I went for that shot tube TV look, helps with crappy quality freebie source clips. Drum reverb is BFD eco's built in tin-can reverb on a room channel.
I had a period of sifting through VST monos but now I'm firmly staying with Synth1, it's brilliant and I can't get enough of VA sound. It has a mono mode anyway, with unison setting to combine ton of oscillators into one Moog-on-steroids style if you want. TBH I don't understand the appeal of mono synths this day and age, won't any good polysynth do the same and more?

They do, I suppose. But I feel mono's 'force' you to be more creative. You can't play just a bunch of chords, and you have to think how to make this mono source enhance a song a bit more. And personally, I just like the sound of a mono synth over polys, though I can like both. As for polys that can do both, I'd rather be locked to the mono and just use unison if needed.
I like the way you bring it all down in the back half of the song. The tremolo guitar, and flangy lead tone you have going, sound great in that section.

I noticed I always manage to do stuff I like the most towards the ending bit of a tune. I should start work with endings and work my way backwards.
BTW according to soundcloud comment apparenly I unwittingly ripped the Cure, just checked and it does sound kinda like "Last Dance". Not the worst band to be compared to I guess.
