Default Visualization - AVS in REAPER?

I could have sworn I have seen references to Advanced Visualization Studio use within REAPER, but now I cannot find anything about it. Sorry if this is already covered elsewhere!

I would love to be able to use and render in high res. cool beat synched psychedelic AVS stuff (liquid projection-like stuff, etc.) for use in music videos - to later overlay other animations, etc. in other apps. If this is already possible I would really like to know how!!

You need to first install Winamp from http://www.winamp.com/ then go to the REAPER preferences and go to the Plugins->Visualisation panel, then select AVS and click Start.

Note that you won't be able to render AVS's output, you'll just have it synced with REAPER's playback. You could probably use Fraps ( http://fraps.com/ ) for recording AVS's window into an AVI file.

Thanks Christophe (is that you Cap'n?)!

I revise my feature request then, what I would really like is to be able to render AVS to a high res video file...very much.

I'll check out FRAPS though!

Yes, same here, I installed winamp and no option for visualization. Perhaps they moved it somewhere? If someone knows, I would be eternally thankful (for at least 5 minutes!)

Just as a side, Fraps is the best for capturing such things that I have found (although there are many others that I did not try). However, you will generally not get top notch videos using fraps. Also it helps a lot if you have a second hard drive to record to (run os from drive C: and record fraps vids to drive W: for example). The fraps vids will be very very large, so expect multi GB files if your video is long. Also you may need a video editing software such as adobe premier to make something useful from the videos.

mega bump
now that REAPER has more video integration.
Wouldn't be nice to see and export AVS visualizations in REAPER?
It would be nice that each track in REAPER could output a layer of video with a different AVS visualization, in sync with the audio of each track.
