Default How is BCR2000 as a plugin controller?

Hi,
I've got a good deal on a BCR2000 and wanted know how it is as a plugin controller. I'll mainly use it to control synths the same way I use my midi fighter twister. I plan on using Realearn which has midi feedback. Does this controller support that?

Thanks guys!

Yes, it is possible to use BCR2000 + Realearn to control synths in Reaper. And this combo lets you feed paramater values from DAW back to BCR's LEDs.

However, I STRONGLY recommend Nektar Panorama P1 - this is currently the best controller for soft synths, at least for Reaper.
- In Panorama you always see parameter *NAMES* on it's screen!
- Encoders have much better quality than in Behringer.
- It remembers mappings for hundreds of plugins and automatically shows them when you select a track.
- Parameter values are shown in their native units (e.g. dB, Hz), not as bare numbers 0-127.
- It comes with mappings for popular plugins and synths (they are editable). You can create and store your own mappings, and if you're too lazy, it will automatically assign new plugin's parameters to it's knobs and faders.
- Very stable and quick to use.
- 40 knobs (via multiple banks of 8), 8 faders (not motorized, but with very clever soft takeover) + 13 buttons, IIRC. All programmable, but ready to use (as mentioned above).

I have the BCR2000 (and Realearn installed), but it lies on the shelf since I bought Panorama P1.
(Just notice: Panorama installs a dedicated extension in Reaper's folder to achieve all that functionality and intergration.)

You'd better ask in the "Control Surfaces" subforum.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do the knobs have midi feedback? Just out of interest. I've got a good deal on the BCR2000 (a tenth of the cost of a P1), but I don't really need a new controller.

Yes, Panorama P1 supports feedback, i.e. when you load a new preset in your soft synth or change some parameter e.g. using mouse, it is automatically reflected on Panorama's LED screen.

Default BCR2000

I'd also really like to read more on BCR2000 integration into Reaper and onto synths and modules for control.
