I just used your lfo generator for the first time, well done it's brilliant. Do you plan to add any more shapes to it? My ideal generator would have a little box in it with an envelope where you could draw the shape you want to repeat, like the sony amplitude modulator in acid. Is that within the realms of possibility?

Thanks again for an excellent tool

Sounds like a nice idea!

... sounds like a hell of an UI job for me too! I'm not very familiar with the Win32 API, just the basic stuff to get a decent interface quickly (+ MSVC Express Edition is not helping either!)

For UI devs I usually prefer a cross-platform lib called wxWidgets, but I'm not sure adding this to sws would be such a good idea, especially since cross-platform UI aspects are already covered with Cockos' WDL.

I'll think about it though. Right now the priority for a next update would be a new "generate item LFO within time selection" action (I guess?)

You could look at an example of making a breakpoint envelope GUI editor in my "Item properties interpolator" code in the sws extension. There's some tedious win32 boilerplate code needed, but it's all there already, you could copy paste and modify as needed much of it. The actual drawing of the break point editor area is accomplished with quite straight forward use of Cockos Lice drawing library.

Why not use an item envelope and then have a save as LFO shape action ?
The drawing is all taken care of in Reaper then already

Hi Padre, thanks for your latest amazing lfo addition!

The only time I got it to crash was when I tried to use it in time selection mode over multiple audio selected items (so say I selected 3 items but the time selection only half covered the first and the last one but fully covers the middle one), I can see that this scenario is a tricky one but thought I'd mention it in case you had not tried it yet

It's a good thing you mention it. There are so many scenarios I wouldn't even think about!

I made two updates yesterday+today. I tested your scenario with the latest one and couldn't reproduce so maybe it's fixed. If you can wait for the next sws version and try to reproduce I'd appreciate it.

About the updates... a new feature, the "segment" option: apply to time selection, loop, full project, full item.

Padre just retested using the "worst scenarios" I could think of and so far it's been stable and working over multiple items on multiple tracks EVEN with only half the item selected AMAZING!

the only one bug is that if you try to use your lfo generator in time selection mode again and half the items already have say, volume automation active and the other half don't then what happens is the ones with volume automation get hidden although when you un hide them you can see that your generator worked properly

it seems you are using a "toggle" mode and not just one to activate it on that track?

Yep I know about this one. I'm trying for find a workaround but I may be missing "Take: Show take vol/pan/mute envelope" actions here.

Just checked it out Padre!!

very cool!

Would be amazing if you get time (and it's possible) to have it as a non modal (still change the time selection) and also to have it apply the change after every value change or maybe an "apply" button where you can press it to see the changes without the window closing and then next change you make undos the resets to initial state before updating to the new settings

that would be amazing but it's already amazing!!

Where's your paypal account!

WOW padre you've done it again.

Its looking great ,I would also love to see it incorporate a capture as lfo setting so you could capture an lfo shape from an items envelope or a time selection of an envelope track

Couple of small thing : Undo is still broken hear .

Sighn in Midi mode starts with an offset.

But great work as ever and greatly appreciated.

Ohh and what are shrink selected item by -x sample for apart from the obvious.

EDIT..............

A start offset would be great. Fingers has some useful actions to achieve some of this but a dedicated position offset to adjust the phase of the lfo would rock

Damn, I broke one of my favorite LPs this morning!

Doable. Quite a task, but doable.

"Custom wave shape" = definitely an upcoming feature!

Eh eh Well, these are actions I created for my own use. I was trying to figure out a disturbing, audio buffer size-related MIDI bug and came up with this temporary workaround until Cockos find/fix the problem.

Hi Padre .
Would it be possible to extend the length of the effect beyond 8 beats ?

....this stuff is amazing. I was hoping for a way to make the knobs turn automatically on VSTIs. thanks for making my wish come true

Can you add a simple preset manager for quick setups of the LFO generator?

it can save few good clicks.

cheers

Good thinking. It should be freely adjustable from 1 beat to x bars, x being the last bar holding a MIDI or audio item.

- Freq: now starting from 128/1 ! Good for the doooooooooooooom metallers (some kind of tribute... that favorite record of mine I broke was Winter's Into Darkness LP on white vinyl )

- Presets: I'll think about it. I've got a couple of surprises coming up before this one but I'll add a reminder somewhere.

A few more suggestions:

* Add a Fade In and Fade Out parameter
* When adding LFO to MIDI CC lanes, it doesn't respect time selection or loop, even if it's selected in Segment dropdown. It always draws LFO through the item length

Also I didn't quite catch what Delay parameter does. Whatever I set it up, it doesn't delay anything...

Hi all,

Been away for a while, making music and all...

Fade in/out: available in the env processor

MIDI LFO: I know, lots of things to do in this area. I'm not sure about upcoming devs, since regular envelope lanes are funnier to work with and can be assigned to MIDI with Cockos' MIDI control VST

Delay: shifts the initial value of a waveform e.g. a 1/1 triangle may start with val=0 for delay=0 and val=1 for delay=1/4

Can anyone else confirm that the the lfo generator can sometimes make it so if you..

1: use the generator,
2: do something afterwards (like record a new part)
3: edit that new part
4: decide you don't like the edits so you
5: press undo.

The outcome I'm getting from this is that when I press undo it jumps back to the undo before I applied the lfo generator therefore removing the new recording, if I then try and redo to get it back I no longer can and the new recording is now in the "either"

I will try more things but anyone found this?

thanks.

Hi Padre_PC,

When might we see an update to this awesome tool ?
I too am experiencing the undo bug mentioned by musicbynumbers.
Are you adding any new features ?

Thank You,

Anton
