Default Sustained midi notes played in sequence mute the previous notes sustain

I've got a midi track with 3 different notes that are played in a sequence , not all at the same time.Think of it like slowly strumming a guitar (1 string at a time playing a whole chord) and how all the notes ring out nicely however, with my midi notes, each note played completely mutes the previous notes sustain so you don't get to hear all 3 notes ring out, only the last one played.

Is there a way to fix this in reaper?

Sounds to me like you just discovered polyphony, or the lack thereof. Monophonic synths can only play one note at a time, but most synths these days at least have the option of adding more simultaneous voices, making them polyphonic. Look for that option in whatever is generating your sounds. More voices = more cpu though as a general rule, so you don't need to max it out.
