Default Track grouping without flags doesn't work

1. Add some tracks
2. Select them
3. Click 'Track grouping enabled' to tick it on
4. Run an action: 'Group:select all tracks in group 01'
5. It doesn't select any track.

P.S. I've changed the thread name

You need to create a group. Make sure "track grouping" is enabled, hit Shift-G and group parameters depending on your needs. Now you can run that action and all tracks in group 1 will be selected.

The description of the forum is

"Report and discuss bugs in REAPER (if any) in this forum."

Maybe "presumed bugs" would be more appropriate. And adding "Please make sure that the issue is really not working according to the documentation before posting here."

Or perhaps "The nasty Reaper does not work exactly the way I insist it should"

Ok, thank you, man. It works. But what about just selecting tracks, grouping it and have a chance to hide/unhide in TCP/MCP the whole group while selecting the only one of the tracks? Is it real?

So, maybe not a bug. Good FR then. Maybe a mod would move it. It would be useful to have groups for selection actions. It would be nice to have colors to indicate those. Where should those go?

I just always use phase as my "null" parameter to make to grouping work. It's pretty rare that it effects anything you need to do.

I guess it would be nice to have some actual "null" flag or something though.

Thanks for a nice tip, James! I've dealt with this problem already.

@vitalker was kind enough to start this thread, but initial it was me who complaining to him about that.

Basically, all i wanted to do is to make some custom action to be able to create groups of tracks I can toggle in and out of view. In complex arrangements this is extremely helpful. But can make that happen without actually setting a flag, but I don't really want to use any of the flags. So it would be good if tracks could be grouped regardless of weather flag has been set or not.

I do that with custom actions in a different way.

Thanks, but nope: it's overly complicated and you got to use folders, which I don't want too use when I'm arranging. So not flexible enough.

Has anyone come up with solutions to this? I'd really benefit from quick show/hide group functionality the last poster mentioned. Been trying a lot of workarounds but so far no dice :/
