First of all, please don't take what I'm about to write in a mean way. In fact, it's quite the opposite, I appreciate all the time and effort you've put into REAPER (playlists, pre-release discussion and documentation, etc) and I consider you one of the most helpful users around here. But, a lot of your posts have that arrogant tone which maybe puts many people off when there's a discussion going on, maybe it's even discouraged people in the past which is sad because you're a smart person (hell, I couldn't even understand half of those post you wrote about MIDI in that pre-release parade, seriously, too advanced for me). It's your life and you write and discuss how you want but a bit less of that tone will surely make your posts more pleasing

Cheers man! Sorry for the off-topic, carry on!

This is awesome! looks like I might finally be able to have "archive tracks".

One question is, From your lice cap, it's not quite obvious how to go about loading a different project and getting track templates to show just the templates in the new project.

I haven't played around fully with this yet so I might find it out anyway but if you get time to do a lice cap showing the work flow from one project to the next that would help me and probably other "travellers" passing by!

I think you can use the "bookmarks" to make this easier, but I do not really have a full understanding of the bookmarks yet.

Perhaps Jeffos can explain in detail how he uses the bookmarks.

I manualy delete the templates that are there from the other project, then reset the auto-fill and auto-save directories to the project. I make an audible "grrrrrrrrrrrrrr" noise as I do this, cause I wish I didn't have to.. lol

They are adding some features to this - as far as saving things in the project directory, so perhaps something will change.

Thanks. I was hoping that wasn't the case but better than nothing at all! jeffos always does the best he can too so thanks jeffos!

I wondered if this could be setup as a custom action then instead. Will check what commands are available.

I seem to recall a way for loading a reaper song to trigger a custom action via something the sws team setup but I might be dreaming

I would love to see a archive tab in project bay for this stuff using templates as a way to back up tracks easily.

Sws snapshots seems to be able to detect both project and track selected so I have given up hope that jeffos can come up with a "revolver" mode that can show just templates for the current project.

I'd happily donate to that to help make it worth doing too!

from the sws-extension "what's new" for the current beta.

Resources window and related "slot actions"
Issue 560: added commands and options to attach/detach resource files to/from projects
When saving your work to another directory (using save as / copy media), all files that have been attached to the project in the S&M Resources window will be backed up too
When a bookmark is attached to a project, any file/slot that will be added to (or removed from) this bookmark will be automatically attached to (or detached from) the project
Use-case example: Comping, "Revolver tracks"
- Added Context menu > Bookmark > "Attach files to X.RPP" and "Detach files from Y.RPP"
- Added option "Attach files and paths to this project" when creating new bookmarks
- Added label for the attached project name (if any), right-click to load/select the said project

I've been in writing mode, so I actually hadn't checked this out yet. I have almost a full understanding of the bookmarks now(at least within resources)

For "Save as" - the implementation is better than I thought it would be. I thought best case scenario, we'd have to "save as" from the resources window itself by saving from "projects" in the resources window, which would copy everything over.

That's not necessary, you just need to make a bookmark and check the box to attach it to the project. The "attatch" is new in this beta

As for switching things project to project, once you have a bookmark for a project, you can just load that bookmark after loading the project and that's all you need to do.

The bookmark itself can't be saved with the project right now, that's the next step. If that can happen, it would load automatically. (if I'm understanding correctly)

Also a way to manage the bookmarks would be great. that list will get quite large for those that use this on a per project basis. (unless there is a way currently?)

If no bookmark has been created, you'll have to do what I have been doing, which is deleting the current templates, and setting the directories to the project path.

(an idea is to create a "blank" bookmark - this way you don't have to delete stuff, just load the blank bookmark, then reset directories and add a new bookmark)

If you already have existing bookmarks, right click on the bookmark name, to attatch or detatch it to the project.

The bookmarks can be tied to slot actions - or not - this is awesome. That was what I wasn't understanding, I got it now.

Thanks.

I was doing it the last way you explained for now as having loads of bookmarks gets unwieldy quick

I hope jeffos can find a way to have a permanent "project" one that automatically removes bookmarks on closing a project and loads any bookmarks in the audio folder when opening projects. that would be my dream come true for "archive tracks"

Sorry for answering a really old thread, but i didn't find up to date information about this.

Im planing to migrate from samplitude, and i use a lot Revolver Tracks in my workflow.
I was studying this and other old post, but i dont see any evolution over this last 5 years to cover the functionality that other DAWS implement:

Samplitude: Revolver Tracks
ProTools : PlayList
Cubase: Track Versions

I tried to implement with S&M Resources but you need to make a bookmark per song. This bookmark is "global" and it grows in a messy way.

¿Is anybody using S&M Resources to implement the pt playlist functionality?

PS: I only see this https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=203828

Yes, that link is about the only way you'll get that functionality, at least for the time being.

isn't the Reaper Comping function (save as comp) exactly what you are looki.g for? Save a specific take selection as a new comp and recall it whenever you want? Or do I get something wrong?
