Default High Contrast Grid Lines?

Hey guys!
These 70 year old peepers are not functioning as good as they used to..
Is there a way to darken the grid lines? Or is there a Reaper theme I can download that has higher contrast grid lines? Grey on grey just doesn't do it for me

You can go to Actions > Show Action list and in the filter box type "theme tweaker". Run the action that shows up and you are inside the theme tweaker. Inside the theme tweaker type "grid" into the filter box and you can change the color as well as the blend mode for all grid subdivisions in the arrange view and in the MIDI editor.

Getting grid lines to look good against all other arrange area elements is the most difficult part for me in making themes. You have all kinds of things competing for the user's attention, namely:

- marker lines
- region lines
- time signature marker lines
- media item edges
- media item peaks
- envelopes of various sorts
- time selection start and end edges
- time selection range

That's a lot of stuff to pack into the same space. Getting all of it to look nice, even in a very dense project is quite tedious!

Yes there certainly is a way!

Go to 'Actions' -> Show action list -> type in "tweak" in the filter bar -> double-click on 'Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window'.

Now that this Theme tweaker has appeared, you type in "grid lines"in the filter bar.

You will see 5 grey boxes with the descriptions next to them. The ones you want are: Grid lines (start of measure), Grid lines (start of beats) and Grid lines (in between beats).

By clicking on those boxes you are given the option to colour them the way you want.
You can give them a darker shade of grey. Or give them a different colour for each one.

When you type in "Midi editor grid", you'll be able to do the same thing for your midi editor grid lines.

When you have made the changes, make sure to click 'Save Theme' in the Theme Tweaker. I usually give it a different name to keep the original theme stored as is.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
