What the Reaper version do you have? It may caused by errors in undo file.

Dear all,

has anyone been using it with Reaper 5.26 (I saw no support anymore)?
Can I install it on then survive in spite of all? I guess in worst case some features can stop working? Any risk?

thanks!

I find that Undo knocks item picture off item in weird ways. I would guess Reaper bug, not SWS.

Some rumors there is no SWS support since January (not anymore). Anyway as long as works fine it is still worth installing...

I am curious if any coders are able to add a option to place markers in the audio file within the "media explorer" waveform view. I would be willing to pay for this.

Wol?

This is awesome: _WOL_ADJENVTRHMOUSEZCMC

but it is sending note offs to the track under cursor during playback. I'm using Control mousewheel on WIN 7 REAPER64.

What?
There's no midi code in this action and I don't see any note off in the logger, and midi files play correctly. I'm using ctrl+mousewheel too.
Try posting a gif.

Thanks. I will have to do it later. No mousewheel at the moment/different computer. Maybe I can root around and see if something else could be triggered by control mousewheel. I did put ReacontrolMIDI logger on in simple 1 track project. (I noticed this in other bigger projects before.)

Ok, here goes...

It seems to be affected by both Rec Arm and the FX Chain window, but not in a way I can pin down. The FX Chain does not always have to be open to experience this, but while testing today it seemed to amplify the problem dramatically.

ReaControlMIDI is only effect on track 1.
MIDI item has 1 long note.

0-4 seconds: Not doing it.
4-7 seconds: Hit Rec Arm button.
You can see it in the logger. Also in track meter. Licecap may not be catching all of that.
7-8 seconds: Switch to track two. Not doing it.
9 seconds-End: Open Empty FX Chain of track 2.
Begins showing the issue. Can see it in meter.
Notice Rec Arm is not on on this track. :| wth...

Things I tried while testing:
Shut off all background scripts.
Disable MIDI controller.
Assign Solo in Front dimming to Control Mousewheel. Seemed to work properly.
Assign spk77 mousewheel take volume to Control Mousewheel. Seemed to work properly.
Check recent actions in Actions menu. Nothing uncalled for.
Tried another wol action. Same issue. Pretty sure it was this: _WOL_ADJENVTRHMOUSE
Tried "send note off when un Record Arming preference" both ways. No difference.
Probably some other things I'm not remembering right now.

I did some tests and found some note offs only while playing a midi file with rec armed track.
Atm I have no idea about these messages. Justin/schwa?

In SWS live configs, the snapshots have a problem when recalling the settings.
I'm still figuring out what is going on, but when I load some snapsots that have a different setting for the filter or the tracks, the program hangs.

UPDATE: Ok, probably the problem is with loading the tracks , the filter and track folders I've made.
There was an extra track and I removed it now and removed the track folders.
Seems to work now.

So SWS is dead now right ?
I just tried out the custom colors stuff and non of it works in OSX anymore, so is it time to remove this and get used to Reaper without it ?
There is no point keeping non updated stuff that is just continually breaking macros and such installed right ?

@gpunk
Keep it,
some feature may be broken,
but most of is still very good and usable.

More, Tim is keeping it alive, by doing maintenance (like taking care of the website when it was broken) and answering some bug reports.

Also, this si the trhead to discuss about it now:
SWS Extension pre-release builds - Cockos Confederated Forums

I think SWS need community/Cockos help (donations, documentation writen for potential collaborators) to be dynamic again.

To the website, it has a big button DONATE.
And since I think this plugin gives great value to Reaper...
Oh well, it's a pocketmoney for their work before.
I hope Reaper will take over many functions from it.
Without it, Reaper is half as usefull. Seriously.

There is someone, I told you, it's Tim Payne !

Of course, a software become abandonned if no one support its development. But maybe it could attract developpers if the project was a bit more supported by the community in the first place, so that new developpers could consider that it worth working on that.

Just a supposition, I don't know Tim's position on this.

@godly
That's very nice to you, I'm sure it will be appreciated

Yep, and site maintenance and documentation writting.

I think that a crowd sourcing campaign for SWS can be successful, if this is needed to allow Tim and others to take moe time for the project.

You contributed to SWS right ?

a statement regarding forward functionality is probably warranted. i don't keep well enough informed as to what is broken/will break with future updates, but i encountered a reascript that needed an edited line in order to work with sws (delete note under mouse cursor - midi editor).

if i were to ever install an update that boned more than half of my custom actions, it'd suck. luckily reaper's history has been more cautious and well tread than such fiascoes so i'm sure it'll get worked out. unlike my old friends at akai aka "fuck yall new platform."

Yes, I have contributed and would like to continue if someone can help. I have some simple stuff ready to be pushed and some more advanced made for my needs, so not ready to be released and will not compile in OSX due to modern C++ I have used (I have no Mac, and this is another problem: old C++ standard).

It is all well and good saying "It can be fixed" the point i'm making is that it isn't right now, and the stickies should be unstickied until such time that they are, people going round in circles trying to get something to work that should work and doesn't, does not do SWS any favours and neither does it do users any favours either.
It's dead until it gets fixed, it really is that simple, it gets worse not better.

@gpunk_w
If you want to help this project get back on track, you contribute by writing more detailed bug reports,

Quote:
I just tried out the custom colors stuff and non of it works in OSX anymore
  • Which ones ?
  • How are they broken ? Wrong Colors ? No actions at all ?
  • What are the steps to reproduct the error ?
  • Can you please paste an animated screenshot ? False report (where the error come from a misconfiguration made by the user) is still possible
  • What is your exact config (OSX Version, REAPER version, SWS version)
You have to write that on the GitHub Issues forum which is the Bug Tracking system of the project, aka where a SWS contributor will look to see active bugs.

https://github.com/reaper-oss/sws/issues/new

This is one way to help future devs to help you back. Thanks for your consideration.

hey guys!
regarding the auto color manager.

it can be very useful if there will be "OR" option for naming, or just put "," between the names that need the same color.

possible?

thanks

Wol?

Now it seems even worse. Sometimes the screen freezes for a few seconds and when it comes back a horizontal zoom takes place, which is what I have assigned to mousewheel with no modifier. Unusable, in other words. Hope that helps debug it. (Size of project MIGHT have a bearing on it.) Maybe I can put one of your other actions to use in the meantime.

I'm not using midi much so I've never seen this. I'll pm Justin/schwa hoping for an answer. (If you updated Reaper and it got worse, I'd think there is something going inside it.)

Why, nobody is working on it, there is no point sending bug reports if nobody is reading them.
You seem to think if users keeping struggling to use these with newer releases of Reaper, as more and more things stop working, and send reports, that some magic will happen and a developer will pop in to existence that will fix it all.
This is not the case, more and more breaks in SWS with every OS update or Reaper update (The OSX color issue is caused by OSX having a new color picker that is not supported by SWS)

Another used to work, no longer works in later Reapers, finding stuff like this all the time with SWS
This is a simple IF/IF Not cycle action for opening and closing media/fx browsers and two toolbars, works fine, well not so much, as soon as you drag a plugin over, it turns to crap.
Works fine after dragging audio files, for the record.

Ok it seems I found a solution, no longer have the random midi messages.

To Justin/schwa: the problem was setting the track height with SNM_ChunkParserPatcher, but imo this is not the bugged code since it is used for other things too without problems. Maybe Reaper updates the midi item when setting the chunk and throws midi messages?

Note too that setting the track height with GetSetMediaTrackInfo() does not update UI so I had to add TrackList_AdjustWindows(false); UpdateTimeline(); to make it work.

The site for the SWS package on the main site seems to be down (or dead/gone?).
Where is the place to find SWS now?

Thx
