I Achieved Transparent item Backgorud But..

So, by trying out some images for item background and playing around with some reaper theme configs, i was able to achieve a transparent background for items:-

i did this by using a black background image for item background and using these settings

but the background is black in media explorer waveform preview

and when dragging audio in a project, the item is black too

Okay, then try different combinations of opacity and fill mode.

The 'Add' blending mode adds up the colour information of the two elements. So if you make one element black, that means it contributes nothing and appears invisible. This only works in contexts where the blending modes work which IIRC is not everywhere.

It is amazing to me how we still find new & interesting theme tweaks.

The only hard part is deciding if I prefer this look, or the FL-esque “title bar” from @Mordi. Perhaps selected items should / can have the normal container look to them? I think appearance changes when you interact with an item are generally a good thing for users.
