Default Have any well-known artists used Reaper for an album?

Just curious to hear if there's any reasonably well known artists that have used Reaper

One of my favorite artists ever - tycho.

Also, deadmau5 is now experimenting with reaper in his live streams so keep an eye out for this as well.

There are others but cant remember who is who (out of the main stream loop).

Ah nice. I used to love Tycho. Which album? Or just all of them?

Of course a big endorsement is that the BBC has used Reaper in its outside broadcast vans for years now. Probably more in-house too.

The very creative British band PSB use REAPER as listed here:

https://www.musicradar.com/news/guit...casting-574464
I understand however that it may be used in an early stage of putting an album together.

Really worth a listen in any event.

I'm not famous, but I used Reaper for my most recent album. And if I become famous I will for my upcoming albums as well.

Really, the most commonly used DAW for major releases is probably still Pro Tools, but that's definitely not because it's better but rather because it's in most of the major studios and represents a "standard" in the industry. It's still living off its history, but its still strong.

Many famous programmers was using vi editor to write some code. Can that fact be used as a reason to consider using vi when someone starts learning programming?

If one of the requirements to consider the use would be that, then of course. Why that would be is maybe a thing considered less...

Vijay Ratnam ,a very eminent sound designer from the Indian film Industry uses Reaper for film projects. He also does many tutorial\masterclass videos for Reaperblog .

" Kapoor and Sons " which was my 9th film score was entirely scored and premixed on Reaper in 2016 for which we won the "film fare" {the most prestigious award in the Indian film industry} for the Score.
We have been using reaper since then on almost 7{released} scores after that.

I can assure you that Reaper is perfectly capable of delivering any professional needs of a Media or Music composer. It has things that many other DAWs lack. We do at least 6 tracks for commercials every month and Reaper is our weapon of choice.

Most of my fellow composers get fascinated by the DAW but are just too scared to shift because of comfort with their existing DAWs . So reaper won't stop you from being the next big name in the industry thats all i can say !

some of the films scored completely on reaper

I haven't heard of most of these guys. Was hoping for more "popular" producers.

The Beatles used it to record The White Album.

There. Now you don't have to worry if it's good enough for you.

Why? I have multiple basses, some of which are used by "popular" players and some used by others. They all do what they need to do when I need them to do it. So not sure what the popularity contest has to do with it. Not trying to be an ass, just wondering why that would be important.

Kenny Gioia like Reaper enough that he's created all of those helpful videos for us. I think that says a lot.

Yeah, but they switched to ProTools for "Abbey Road" (which is why that album is so much better)

Wait .. did I just accidentally insult Reaper? I didn't mean to.

Why? What difference could it possibly make for you? Lots of good albums have been made using Pro Tools, but that doesn't stop me from holding the opinion that it's a piece of junk and that Reaper smokes it in nearly every way that I consider meaningful. Popularity is not a measure of quality, at least not in my world.

It's OK because Paul McCartney doesn't eat meat, so he doesn't get any pudding.

How can you have any pudding when you don't eat your meat?

As with the majority of DAWs (Except a few that most here would ridicule)you're not going to hear the answer you are looking for. I've never heard of most of the artists in the 'serious' replies here, and the 1 or 2 I have heard of I wish that I hadn't.

Yes. Vi is ubiquitous, tiny, simple to use, incredibly flexible, and should be in everyone that works on any flavor of *nix's toolbox.

I'm not particularly famous but a few years ago, when I was assistant orchestrator / copyist at Skywalker Sound, Pro Tools crapped out on me.

Being able to convert all PT sessions to Reaper sessions with AATranslator saved the day (or night if you will) for me.

I guess music is subjective but the Beatles will probably be still listened to and played in future generations when all hype has passed and all that is left is the way their music speaks to eternal human experiences. Few artists manage that. They are so seminal to modern popular music that in a sense they are beyond good or bad.
I guess you have to have lived through their era to appreciate what a difference they made not least in terms of the recording techniques they pioneered - in that sense as REAPER users we are all post-Beatles.

I can't say for certain that he uses Reaper exclusively, but judging by the frequency and number of his posts here I'd have to guess Wyatt Rice has used Reaper on at least some of his projects. Aside from being a great player himself, he's recorded Tony Rice, Steep Canyon Rangers, Del and Ronnie McCoury, Dan Tyminski, and many others.

I seem to remember hearing that Tim O'Brien uses Reaper (can't verify it, and can't remember where I heard it):
