Default Can Reaper recognize the tilde character (~) in paths as the home directory?

Can Reaper recognize the tilde character (~) in paths as the home directory?

I have an iMac and a Macbook. Unfortunately the both have different user names, thus two different home directory names.

I use Dropbox to store all my Reaper projects. My Dropbox folder is relative to the home directories on both computers.

Sometimes I get errors locating audio files when a project is created on one computer and I try and access it from the other computer.

I tried editing the RPP files, changing the home directory name in the path to use the tilde (~), but that does not seem to work.

Any ideas what I can do to solve this problem?

Thanks!

First, Reaper stores relative paths if that's possible.

That is: if you have your media in the same directory that your .RPP is or in a sub-directory next to it, you shouldn't have any problems.

Second, with some plugins you may still run into problems like this (like Melodyne), but this is not really Reaper-specific.

If you absolutely must use absolute paths, you could create a symlink in / for that path on each system. E.g. in the terminal: "sudo ln -s /Users/whatever/recordings /recordings"
