I'm going to put a warning on that option. I've only left it in there as an option because very early on a user was using the script on a very basic system and didn't want to use excessive RAM (they even reduced the basic strip surface size to really small).

I think probably - the newer versions of the script are no longer suitable for that type of use now anyway - so I should probably remove the option... But for now - I'll put up a warning message box if a user tries to turn it off.

OK, keep in mind I'm on a Mac. I think we are a minority here but I could be wrong

Glad to hear it - it was actually easier to add functionality to the Param Value control than to create an entirely new control - perhaps I need to to rename that control... hmmm...

Yeah - there's a bunch of tweaks and new stuff in the latest version (like Cycle Control steps can now also switch to specific pages of a switcher) - just not had time to write it all down yet

Oh - and Settings dialog will now resize also.

Yeah - since all these new strips are now commonplace I've been thinking too of some sort of search strip function. So will look into.

You say error - but don't give me any details of what's happening.

The LBX-Insert JSFX is just a dummy jsfx used in MIX mode - sounds like you may be using MIX mode instead of Dynamic mode by mistake perhaps?

Check what the button says at the top of the left sidebar... If it says MIX instead of DYNAMIC then you want to select the track that is set up to use dynamic mode and leave it on that track (in the sidebar).

The latest update to Stripper actually has a lock button to switch the way the sidebar track list works - and ensure you do not leave dynamic mode (the track list then selects the dynamic mode track selection instead of the old method where it selects the track within Stripper but changes mode depending on what has been set up for that track). Ensure the lock (when in dynamic mode) is fully opaque to lock into dynamic mode. If it is transparent - the track list will use the old track selection method (which will not work so well if you wish to stay in dynamic mode).

Hi lb0!

A-WE-SO-ME script!
I can't even imagine the amount of work you have put in this project.

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the settings/options so I have a question:
Is there a way to save a strip with an fx chain?
I was hoping to use LBXStripper as a macro system for all my FXchains.

Cheers!

Hi Infrabass,

There is a way to trigger a specific strip to load (in LIVE mode) by naming the track a certain way (It's not something I use - so I constantly forget the exact format).

This would kind of replace using FX Chains - as it should also load the FX plugins - but my memory's all a bit hazy on the exact details.

I just checked the code - the track name format for auto loading a strip is:
eg.

Track 1 LBXSTRIP[<stripname>]

So the key bit is the track name should contain LBXSTRIP[] with the strip name within the square brackets.

However - this was really designed for use in LIVE mode only (no idea what would happen if you try it on a DYNAMIC MODE track - but it probably won't work as expected as dynamic mode would simply replace the strip with strips for each plugin - as that's what it is designed to do.

If you're using Dynamic Mode - then you shouldn't really need to do anything other than load the FX chain - as simply loading the FX chain into a track - and selecting the track - would automatically load the appropriate strips for each plugin (assuming you have strips for each plugin and they are properly associated with the plugin)...

So what mode are you using Stripper in??

So reading again - you want macro controls for your plugins - so assuming you want different layouts depending on the chain - in LIVE mode you could do this by loading the FX Chain - then editing the strip for that track - adding the controls you need. Then save the strip (it should also save the plugins - ensure Save All Plugins With Strip option is active in Settings).

Then you can use the track name method to automatically load that strip. You could create a track template with no FX but just the name (including the LBXSTRIP[] part) and use this to populate the track with the FX you want.

This is in LIVE mode.

Obviously - this wouldn't let you add multiple FX chains to a track though - so may not be exactly what you need.

For that - I guess you simply need to make strips for all your chains - and simply drag them in from the strip browser as and when you need them.

This would work in both LIVE and DYNAMIC modes.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Lb0 and sorry for the delay of my reply!

So currently there is no direct integration of LBXStripper with native FX chain (and I'm not sure it's currently possible in Reaper) but your second message give me a good workaround.
I can save strip with the same name as my FX chain and just manually load them.

If, in the future, a specific strip could be automatically loaded when it detects a certain FX chain it would be killer!

Thanks again for sharing LBXStripper with us!

Cheers!

Ok I just did a few more tests and I can't find a way to load a strip without adding the linked FX to the selected track.
Is this possible?

What I'm trying to do:
Load an FX chain by right clicking on the FX chain icon on a track, (ideally automatically recall the corresponding strip here) then open LBXStripper and manually load the strip I saved for that FX chain (name is the same).
For me it's best to keep the native FX chain feature because I already build a lot of FX chain sorted in a specific folders & subfolders hierarchy.

Hold Alt (or Mac equivalent) while dragging in the strip from the strip browser - brings up the fx linking dialog - from here you can link the strip fx to existing fx.

I tried with all the modifier keys but I can't make it works on mac.
Also linking each FX one by one can become problematic if the FX chain is using a lot of effects…

Are you dragging in from the Strip Browser (shortcut 0) in LIVE mode - whilst holding Mac equiv of Alt?

Hi, mouse wheel horizontal scroll appears to be broken. I'm using the latest version of stripper with the zenomod pack.

Thanks for an awesome script!

It's working ok here:

If setting Can Mousewheel on Knob in General settings is set - then you need to hold Ctrl whilst using the mousewheel to scroll the strips.

If the setting is not set - then it should just work.

What appears to be happening? What OS are you on? - I know with Mac's there are some problems with Mighty Mouse mousewheels - as they send strange values - if this is the case - you can set the Setting Limit mousewheel multiplier to 1 which can sort out some problems - at the expense of utilizing any wheel acceleration.

Hi fellow strippers, hope everybody is doing good

I installed the latest update yesterday and was updating some strips and realized that I can't choose snapshots from a subset-control anymore (after dragging it into the strip).

Meaning: I can skip forward and backward through snapshots via the left and right-corner buttons, but I can't directly click on one to choose a snapshot after dropping-down the snapshot-list.
It works as expected in the normal snapshot-window but not on the snapshot control.

I also checked the control-specific settings and it should be fine.
A old version of the script (pre dynamic mode works normal). The latest and v.0.94.0192 does not act on clicks (directly on snapshot, and the Up/down buttons too don't work in the dropdown)
Anybody came across this too or is it just me?

2. Is there a way to undock the control-browser on the new version.
I thought I was doing something wrong, but apperently this has been changed and we have to drag it out if we want to see more controls at once now. But maybe I am missing something.

Hope I am just missing something

I did find some bugs with the snapshot controls - which I may or may not have fixed in the unreleased version- I will send it to you via email to try. If it's ok - I'll publish it as it's hopefully ready for release.

Currently the control browser is locked to the right-hand side - I'll look into making that optional if you really don't want it docked there. It's been this way for a long time - and I've preferred it every time over the floating browser - A lot of changes have gone on under the hood - so I don't know exactly how easy it will be to undock - but it may just be changing the state of a flag and it'll work (not sure)...

EDIT:

Email sent.

Thanks a lot Leon. I'll will try the unreleased version and see if the snapshots work here. Fingers crossed
Don't worry about the control-browser. I will drag it out when I build strips and minimize when I'm done. That's fine. I was just thinking that I missed a hidden click or something.

Thank you very much and I'll report back today!

Hi, I changed something and don't know how to go back. By default, plugins with no stripo made for them would display as a black box. Now there's only a header with the bypass button, wrench and settings icon. How can I go back to the square box? Maybe this is zenomod related? Sorry for the noobishness.

Hmmm - odd - sounds like you changed the defaultplaceholder.strip file (although dunno how - as it's not stored in the standard place for strips - so shouldn't be easily editable without copying stuff outside of Stripper).

The other thing that might have happened is something happened to the black box graphic file.

I would try (make sure Stripper isn't running) replacing the graphics folder with the one that you initially installed from.

Also - replace the dynamicplaceholder.strip file in the LBXCS_resources folder with the original one.

Does this help?

that didn't work, unfortunately. Re installing the zenomod files didn't help either. I alco can´t move out of dynamic mode no matter what I do.

EDIT: I actually did delete the image somehow. I had assign it again from the settings button and it's all good

I'm stil locked in dynamic mode though.

Is there a way of deleting stips/plugins without getting out of dynamic mode?

Glad you got that sorted.

Dynamic Mode might be locked (depends - can't remember if that's in the latest release - or pre-release) - in the sidebar on the dynamic mode track - there might be a padlock - if you double-click it to make it more transparent - you should be able to exit from dynamic mode.

Alt+Click on the switcher above a strip will delete the strip in DM mode. Ensure the delete fx with strip option is on in Settings.

A guy on FB was was trying to use LBX Stripper and couldn't get it work.

So while burning a Windows Server 2008 DVD (Remember those!) i thought i'd help.

The reason it wouldn't work is the zip file for the resources has the a subfolder LBXCS_Resources which i guess shouldn't be there and should be at the top level.

The reason it wouldn't work is the zip file for the resources has the a subfolder LBXCS_Resources which i guess shouldn't be there and should be at the top level.
Thanks for helping out . The LBXCS_Resources folder is required in the structure - but maybe they ended up creating two (manually creating one)??

As you know - it should be /REAPER/Scripts/LBX/LBXCS_Resources/

So I'm not entirely sure where they went wrong...

It also depends on where they got the install files from - I provide the basic no-frills installation from my github - but there are also at least two commonly used alternatives (by George Dayren and Zeno) - and these come with a slightly different setup procedure (probably more straightforward).

Default Lost in the woods....

sorry guys, just found out about this feature which I think might help me a lot with my mastering fx chain but I cannot get things working.

I installed Realearn
I made a folder called "LBX" in my scripts folder which holds:
- LBXCS_resources
- LBX stripper.lua
- LBX_SRD_SmartKnobs.lua

I also installed Faderbox(32).js

PROBLEM #1
I have no idea how to activate the lua scripts. Cannot find them in the packages browser. Nowhere. Looking if I stored them in the right place > by checking through "Show Reaper resource path...." CHECK!

PROBLEM #2
The Faderbox interface only shows 4 sliders. EDIT > fixed!!

Hi,

1: You first need to load the LBXStripper.lua and other main lua files into the Action list within Reaper - then they will be available. There should be a button labelled New Action - and under this a menu item - Load reascript...

2: Glad you worked this one out

Right, keep on chugging! Almost there. Got the stripper and SmartKnobs.lua loaded and added to my main menu.

I get these error messages on opening LBX Stripper:

#1
LBX Stripper.lua:52302: attempt to call a nil value (field 'JS_Mouse_GetState')

#2
Stripper version 0.94.0195 requires JS_ReascriptAPI version 0.961 or later
Running incorrect versions may result in crashes when performing certain functions, or functions not working.
