Default No Signal with Xpand!2 in Reaper

***Update, solution - from user kafug on reddit;
"I had this issue when I was first setting up reaper, you just gotta go Input: MIDI > Map Input to Channel > Channel X, where X is the number you've set the MIDI number in Xpand". This was the issue and it's working great now. Thanks everyone.***

TL;DR Can not get any signal/sound from Xpand!2 in Rea

Reaper version; v6.04/x64 rev 569963 (Feb 20 2020)
Win 10
Using an M-Audio Keystation61

This is a bit of a re-post, but for an issue that persists. I got some advice, but from what I deciphered from it, I didn't manage to get it working. I am trying once again.

You see, I've never had to use MIDI in any sort of manual way (i.e., actually inputting information or even switching channels, etc), nothing. I plug in a controller, open a VSTi in a program, and play. That's all I've ever done. So my knowledge level there is basically zero.

I completely uninstalled, downloaded fresh and reinstalled Xpand!2 today. If i open FL Studio and simply bring Xpand into that, it works as expected at default settings. If I pull it into Reaper, I get silence - no input signal, nothing.

All settings for Reaper and Xpand are set to default. I haven't tweaked anything this go-round. I've screen capped a pic of the track how it appears in Reaper if that helps at all. Below it I added a track with 'Velvet', another plugin from the same bundle/company. Velvet works perfectly as is. I have no idea what to try here. Pic here; https://i.imgur.com/urmKAQD.png

Thanks for any suggestions, I'd really love to be able to use this plugin.

From your pic it looks like you are getting an input signal (the small thin red line shows that the xpand track is receiving a MIDI input) - it seems to be audio output (from xpand) that's not working.
However it's not a plugin i use personally, so i'm probably not helping you much.
Obvious things to check in xpand would be volume, MIDI channel, output assignment etc. Maybe post a pic of the Xpand window if you can.

Not helping here, only saying that Xpand, in my experience, is a buggy plug. I do get sounds from it, but sometimes a preset just doesn't work. I may flip back and forth with the preset arrows and sometimes Xpand finally gets it and make a sound.

It's an old plug, sold for next to nothing, probably abandoned. At least, I get a sound from it now and then. Too bad for such a (potential) great resource.

Explains why I got it for nothing with my M-Audio keys

Old, but good plugin with a great choice of all kind of instruments way better than eg NI Kontakt's library.
Never had an issue with this plugin and it's very cpu friendly.
Maybe watch some videos of Kenny Gioia, that way I learnt how to use Reaper properly

Normally I can set a VSTi to Midi all channels.
Today xpand did not work first, then I set to Midi Ch 1 and it worked !

Xpand2 working well for me so far. I’m using Catalina OSX.
Each instance of xpand has 4 parts which can be set to midi ch 1-4.
I think you can set up 5 tracks with the instance on first track then have four parts on four tracks.
Then repeat with further instances.
I’m experimenting with this.

Default Alternative (maybe) solution

Midi keyboard - output sound OK.
New midi files - output sound OK.
Old midi files - no sound.
I hit F2 after selecting midi item (right click, Item Properties) -> Click Properties -> Check "Send as channel" box (make sure the number in the right matches to channel from Xpand!2 plugin), hit apply/ok. Works fine.
Problem is if you have multiple midi items, it's a little bit harder (if you don't want to glue them).
Hope this will help someone.
PS: i did reinstall the plugin after i re-download it from AIR Music Download Area, but this time from the Bundles Section, AIR Legends Pack (the one i purchased), Xpand!2, not the one(s) from above (pluginboutique sources), maybe it matters.
