Default Sidechine without using Kickdrums etc.

Hello, I was producing in FL Studio for a while and now switched to Reaper. In FL Studio I Sidechained everything with Grossbeat (very easy, uncomplicated & no sidechain compression). What is the best way to sidechain for example a guitar without using any kickdrums in the mix. Can I sidechain my guitar with sidechain compression, not using a kick? What is the best way to sidechain in Reaper and what are the best free VST's for that? Thanks!

You can sidechain from any audio signal you want, doesn't have to be a kick, but obviously results are going to vary accordingly.
Or maybe you are asking how to get the pumping effect of a 4 to the floor kick sidechain without actually using a sidechain? There are lots of plugins that can do this, Kickstart for example, or you can use an automation item on the volume envelope.

Thanks for your reply!
I was looking at Youtube and I only found sidechain tutorials with the Reaper compressor in combination with using a kick. So the compressor was always linked to the Kickdrum. But now I only want to sidechain my Guitar, im looking for something like Grossbeat, NickyRomero Kickstart, LFOTool.. As you said kind of a volume envelope sidechain.. Or is there any chance of using the Reaper compressor for sidechaining like I want it?

yeah, sure, automation items is probably the way to go if you want to use reacomp (without an actual sidechain)
load up reacomp on the track
set up the threshold to show track envelope (click the param button)
insert an automation item on to this track envelope
set your LFO shape, phase & number of cycles etc

(save it for future use if neccesary)

How can I save the shape?

Because now it works and sounds fine (I have tested it, you need to play around with the Ratio setting aswell!) but it is very complicated. I need a fast workflow and this is not very efficient.
