A way to audition a take from mouse hover position?

Hi gang,

Comping on Reaper is faster than I've ever been able to do in Cubendo. However, I am really missing one feature that Cubendo had, and that was a "Speaker" tool that allowed you to audition (playback) an Item from the mouse position (I.E. you could play back a take from the middle of the Take depending on where you clicked on the Item. I REALLY miss that. Did I miss something?

Is there a script like that for Reaper? Would it even be possible? It would be done in "Show Take Lanes" mode.

Thanks, but I don't think that will work for takes. If I want to audition the middle of take 3 of 6 and take 6 is currently active, I don't think that Custom Action will work.

Then you can use the "preview take under mouse" action instead. Doesn't even need a custom action, it's in SWS. If that doesn't work, there are actions to activate the take under mouse as well.

This is the best solution for me so far:

SWS/BR: Preview take under mouse (start from mouse cursor position)

Some of my takes are pretty long though. Any ideas on how to stop it aside from quickly hitting play/stop?

I think it would have to be a custom action like I said originally, but with an action selecting the take under mouse. The one I use auditions only while the key is pressed.

For the sake of sharing, I found this one... "Toggle" that needs no custom action:

SWS/BR: Toggle preview take under mouse (start from mouse position)
