Default Your opinion on this aspect of MIDI?

I have noticed these things everytime I use the midi editor;

1. Grapping Midi notes to move them isn't convenient to me; it's either they are too small or they don't snap conveniently to grid.

2. When I zoom in to have a better view of notes and to grap them (for chopping and resizing) the mouse pointer skids over the note for while before it grap it (you have to zoom in to feel that)

So what do you think might be a good solution for these problems? Having larger grids, maybe? Or may be having a smoother snapping for midi notes?

I'd highly appreciate your talk on this?

Yah that thread addresses part of the problem. I rethought the problem yesterday and found out a few more key factors that contribute to the usability of the midi editor. Although it looks superfcial but it will highly speed up work inside midi editor.

1. When hovering the mouse pointer over a midi note the color of the note changes into a lighter hue to give you a stronger feel of grapping the note which helps move them faster.

2. When hovering the mouse pointer over a midi note the mouse pointer changes in shape (preferably covering the whole area of the note) giving stronger indication that the note has been clicked on which help you move it faster.

These elements have been implemented on some DAWs already.

I can move this to FR if you like.

I don't dislike the midi editing so I can't be of much help. Anyway, yes you're right, just make a feature request out of it! Others might find it useful.
By the way, are you the man who makes those nice free samplebased vstis? In that case thank you VERY much :-). If I'm not completely wrong Alex Zonder mentioned those creations in a very old thread some moons ago here.

Maybe you dislike it because you are not a midi guy; or because you don't know FL studio

Thanks for responding.

These kind of details would definitely be appreciated here.

I really don't like that the mouse moves before the "grapped" object does. It does this in the arrange window too. I can imagine why they did this, but it's always been annoying and makes the editing feel a bit kludgey IMO.

Default Improving grid and notes vision in the midi editor?

And I'm not even asking for that. Even following Orion's Midi example is fine for me.

IMO These are not details but major MIDI issues. However they are obviously easy to implement!

Since most of us program midi inside Reaper, I don't see how this is a superficial matter. Improved grid and note vision, mouse pointer over note and improved graping means easier, faster and more efficient drum tracks editing (see my second thread above) I hope many of you feels the same as I do.

P.S Asking first for minor changes is easier (less demanding) for the developer, isn't it?
