An Ultraschall.fm user suggested to us a feature, that may or may not be of use for some of you.
He was asking for a simple way of previewing a project, before starting recording; Preroll, but easier to use.
So I build this script:
https://github.com/Ultraschall/ultra...eRecording.lua
To use it, add it to Reaper and do the following:
1) Set the Edit-cursor to the position, where the recording shall start
2) Start the script, it opens a window with an OK-Button
3) Set the Edit-cursor to the position, where you want to start playback
4) Hit OK
It will start playback from the position from 3) and start recording from the position from 1).
See the following gif on how it looks in practice:
This is probably the easiest way to use pre-roll for all of you, who find using pre-roll too complicated or don't have hardware for punch-in/punch-out-stuff.
Edit: The wrong play-offset seen in the gif isn't in the script. It happened to due using the screen-recording-app, which skipped sometimes a few milliseconds.
