mouse select

I can't find any settings or any talk of this issue..
where if I hover mouse over a line I want to select, the area is tiny, almost impossible for the mouse to select it.
say the line between minimised tracks, or the item level handle.
it's driving me cray cray, I'm on 4k screens, and it's like I have to hover of just one pixel line..
Tell me I've missed a setting to change this please

You could try changing the item volume control to a knob instead of handle, if that would be easier to handle. Options/Preferences/Appearance/Media.

Space between tracks is indeed just few pixels. You can adjust that in Preferences/Appearance, Pixels between items on adjacent tracks. If you have labels showing above the items, the difference is seen easiest when the tracks have been collapsed where the labels are hiding.
