MS-DOS 3.30
Yeah it was updated, but no need for the bloat after this pinnacle really, I mean come on, 3.30 brought 1.44 MB floppy support. It was the shit.

Got the dll if you want it...still works fine. If people used this more instead of autotune, music would be better for it.

Thank you for your offer. I'm on mac and I think Kantos supports OS 9 only.
But I can be wrong. I was crazy on Kantos, even wrote to Antares about further development and the answer was no.
Does Kantos work on OS X? That would be great ....
Still haven't found surrogate for Kantos ... (Virta from Madrona Labs is not the same thing)

Oh, sorry, i've only got the Windows version! There might be a wrapper to use vst dll's on Mac, but idk... Just send me a mssg if you wanna try it.
Also, not sure how you were using it, but I was using it as a pitch tracking synth to do mono synth lines with voice. You can simulate that aspect by using ReaTune to detect the pitch and "send MIDI events when pitch changes."

I use it on guitars, vocals, drums etc and use it more like a trigger ... depends what music wants/needs. Lastly I use Kantos (more than 10 years) on acc. guitar and made mixed sort of human choir from it, than use it parallel with guitar. Nobody recognized that choir derived from guit. Choir had his own dynamic (also some rhythmic parts from guitar), articulation and sits perfect in the mix.
Depends on how you handle input.
Thank you for ReaTune idea, I'll take a look ..

Alrighty if we are going back that far.
Blue Ribbon Bakery`s Bars n Pipes Pro.
I really really miss the elegance of MIDI composing in that program.
Oh - and of course my favourite B3 clone, N.I.`s B4II. Won it in a contest & about 3 months later they canned it. Still working in Win10 64bit though...

ReBirth RB-338,
I always wondered how could this not have a VST version..
Oh, and PainShopPro 9 lol
Newer versions have come, but some of the coolest tools and part of the spirit got lost.

And since we're at it..
The Windows built-in MIDI capability!
Maybe it was with Windows 7 that the MIDI functionality was lost,
and I don't think it's possible to install the good old Virtual Sound Canvas,
or YamahaXG to play them properly..
PS: Turns out Foobar has a proper alternative, letting you use softsynths like Yamaha xg50, Edirol HQ,
or any other capable VST you may throw at it.

I actually still kind of miss Opcode Vision DAW. Reaper stopped me complaining quite so much, but there are still some features that I miss.
When I had Vision, I also had pluggo, and I often miss their Doppler plugin. Don't really need anything else from that package, but that one was cool and I can't find anything else quite like it.

This is just a handy built-in (integrated by ARA) tool for tuning, which is always at hand. When I worked in Sonar, he often rescued me.

The 'varied reasons' for its abandonment were particularly strange in this case, if I remember correctly.

After switching to REAPER for Linux, I no longer use the Lexicon MPX Native Reverb, which requires an iLok2 and PACE, which doesn't work AFAIK in Linux. It's still installed on the Windows side of my dual boot DAW, but I never boot the Windows side up any more.

I do have the Lexicon Pantheon reverb working in Linux though, so I still have access to some of Lexicon's algorithms, which I do like for small and medium room sounds.
