What does mediainfo http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en say about the file? I have no idea if an AAC stream is legal in an mpg file.

Containers are complicated, my usual approach is to try different combinations until one works.

I don't know about the other editing stuff though. Once you start getting into fades and wipes and transitions and color there is really no end. Then you gotta have titles and masks and other stuff and before you know it you're a video editing app.

"Reaper Video". It's a slippery slope.
+1 for staying focused on audio - plus it's good for the creative juices to have limitations <half-grin, half-serious>.

I would still love to see a relationship develop between Edius and REAPER, but I know things like that are fraught with risks and difficulties.

Might be nice. I thought being a Reaper fan you might also like Vegas... but there are lots of good video NLE's out there.

Vegas = Sony
Sony = Rootkit installed on commercial CD release as "security measure"

I'm on a lifetime boycott of all Sony products.

I've added a link to this discussion and the page on Homebrewed Music to the Reaper Wiki.

The OP and the entire thread has been a great help. I find myself pretty damn vague with video so this is all good. Many thanks.

Ok, I totally don't get it anymore.
Have been trying so much things but with every setting some how the video plays at a too high speed, while the audio plays correct.
I rendered it as 30 fps, same as the source material and still it screws things up.

This REAPER stuff just keeps getting betterer and betterer...
I had read blurbs about video in R, but now I have a whole
new bunch of things to play with.

Good work Fran - glad this thread got bumped up.

When rendering - try 48khz 256kbps = MUCH better than 128!

Ka Loke O Maui - A brief video edited in Reaper

Great Playing!!! What is the open tuning please? Thanks! Brewer

Thanks, I think I responded to you on the YouTube clip but here's the info:

Tuning is "drop C" or "C wahine" - open G with the lowest pitched string tuned down from D to C. Spelling is C G D G B D from low pitch to high. It makes playing in C quick and easy for us slack key players. Check out Led Kaapana and Leonard Kwan for some great examples of virtuoso playing in drop C.
