Toolbar Dropdown Button Lists
Hi,
My toolbars are pretty crowded, and judging from some of the screenshots I've seen in the forums, I'm not the only one running out of screen real-estate.
I'd like a better way to group and display all the buttons and actions I need/want and at the same time reduce tool bar clutter. With that in mind, here's an FR for a toolbar UI/workflow modification. It seems kind of obvious and I'd be surprised if someone hasn't thought of, and requested this before.
I'm hardly the artist, but hopefully you'll get the idea from this mock-up of a grid drop-down button.
Button drop-down lists would be created the same way you would create a sub-menu...
Cheers, R.

This is pretty good. Organised navigation like this should be a default thing.

Because menus are textual, toolbars are (mostly) pictorial - I like pictures
I have some customised menus, but digging through them is still a pain. Click on toolbar, select state/action, done - works better for me.

Which sounds cool as an alternative to the current shortcut system, if you prefer the vimperized style workflow, which personally I don't but each to their own.

Toolbars all the way, with icons, with sub selection, with ability to cycle trough modes if there is only limited number of them, input boxes with dropdown and action button, so it is easy and fast to input a number of whatever and accept it.

Probably yes, this script just takes a standard native Reaper's toolbar and converts it into a dropdown menu. So if you can create a toolbar with your desired actions, this script should work.
In the main thread, I wrote a short and hopefully understandable how-to run this. If you need to learn how to run a script in general, please refer to some other threads or tutorials on that topic.
If you have any more questions, please post to the main thread where future users will be able to find it.

Very good idea!
An option to allow scrolling between actions while hovering the button would be a plus too.

1 million yeses. It would basically let me have one toolbar with dropdowns all across them. It could cause a second industrial revolution
