Default Vertical scrolling

Currently, moving the mouse all the way to the right of the screen and scrolling using the middle wheel wheel will cause the project to scroll horizontally, not vertically. However, if you move one pixel to the left so that the cursor is centered on the vertical scrollbar, the project will now scroll horizontally. It would make me so happy to be able to just gesture to the right of the screen without precisely lining up my mouse to be able to scroll vertically.

What I do is to have Reaper window not maximized and then I move the window a bit off the screen to the right having the scrollbar pixels at the last pixel column on the screen. This way I can quickly catch the scrollbar going all the way to the right quickly. Of course without having anything docked on the right side.

I have alt+scroll wheel for horizontal scrolling and ctrl+alt+scroll wheel for vertical scrolling. These may be the default settings.

However, when I release the alt+scroll wheel combo I have to hit alt button again (or click with the left mouse button) in order for the scroll wheel to work, but that is probably my own little quirk.

Nice catch, and I think actually this should be treated as sort of a bug. Obviously it was coded fine and is behaving as intended - however the intended result doesn't line up nicely with expected result.

I agree entirely, the entire box surrounding it (by only 1 pixel, either side) should allow for scrolling vertically.

Turn this on:

Preferences > General > Keyboard> Prevent ALT from focusing main menu

The mouse wheel zooms horizontally by default (unless positioned over the scroll bar as noted).

Do this:

Assign the action "View: Scroll vertically (MIDI CC relative/mousewheel)" to your mousewheel instead.

If my memory is correct, Horizwheel is already assigned to the action "View: Scroll horizontally (MIDI CC relative/mousewheel)". This will either be the mouse wheel side to side motion or 2 finger scroll horizontally on a trackpad.

I've also done the following:

⌘-mousewheel assigned to the action "View: Zoom horizontally (MIDI CC relative/mousewheel)"

⌥⌘-mousewheel assigned to the following custom action to zoom peaks:

skip next action if CC parameter >0/mid
decrease the peak view
skip next action if CC parameter <0/mid
increase the peak view
