Default Sound keeps getting small gaps not sure where issue is

Whenever I stream, I keep getting quick breaks in the sounds, like in the clip below:
https://clips.twitch.tv/ShakingTalen...agaPanicBasket

Thinking it could be latency, but not sure.
Machine is pretty beefy for a single streaming PC,
  • 1070 video card
    i7 6850 (6 cores)
    external usb sound card
    usb AT2020 mic

Stream Setup:
  • OBS
    ASIO4ALL
    Reaper
    Synchronous audio router

ASIO is setup to use 48kHz with buffer at 512
Always resample to 44.1 <-> 48 was checked for 2 devices

Thoughts?

The audio hickups could be due to to the resampling 44.1 <> 48:
Reaper does realtime playback resampling, to the cost of cpu resources...

Open Project Settings.
Goto tab Project Settings
Check the setting: playback resample mode

Change this setting to a less cpu demanding setting. like "good"

Or even better: try to avoid playback resampling if you can ..

OBS audio was set at 44.1, so that might have been the issue. Also turned up the ASIO buffer to 1024.

Default Playback with lots of little gaps

I too had this problem, which ONLY occurred when I was playing a section which had more than 16 active tracks.

Thanks to the previous comment about project settings, I found the playback resample mode was set to "Better 384 pt sinc" (sic) and set it down (?) to "Good" 192pt Sinc. (I couldn't find any reference to "playback resample mode " in the Reaper Manual V4.20, but maybe my search wasn't so good, or I need a newer version!)

(Although this improved things a lot, I also ended up increasing the buffers in my DirectSound audio device to 16 X 1024 samples before the playback became steady).

Problem is, I haven't a clue how or why these changes fixed the problem! or why we are allowed to change them in the first place (I obviously messed up somewhere). Probably I need a Dummies version of Reaper, where I can only change the most vital settings.

Resampling mode and it's set quality is from importance if you use audio in a Reaper project that has different samplerate than what Project & Audiodevice is set to.
Cause Reaper then has to do "live resampling" and the higher the resampling quality is set to, the more cpu resources are needed.
