Default Running Drum Samples Off A USB Drive?

Hi Everyone,

I have some large drum sample libraries that I would like to store on a USB drive. Will I have a problem streaming these from the drive, or is USB too slow for streaming drum samples in real time?

Thanks!

drive speed in usb drives is what you want to watch.
7200rpm is what you want; many are slower.

Look at my sig below. I stream my samples off a usb wd elements with no problem.

Thanks! Is there any way to tell whether I could stream with no problems from a 5400 rpm drive (other than loading all the samples on the drive and trying it)? Maybe a diagnostic file or utility?

Thanks again for your help.

depends on how much you are trying to do.
too many variables.
best suggestion is to always use 7200rpm drives for any audio computer.

otherwise, it's "you takes your chances"....
