Default Question: How to display Shortcuts on Main Window?

Hello REAPER experts

Nuendo and Cubase user since 1985 or so.

How do I see all shortcuts as a Wallpaper on REAPER‘s main Window?

I had this on Cubase many years ago.

Basically, I want to see:
Alt + M Mute
Ctrl + S Save
Etc.

I want to see hundreds of REAPER’s shortcuts right behind all
items, with the grid lines going right over it.
This, for me, would speed up my work flow, because I cannot remember
all the main shortcuts I need.

Just make a few toolbars and dock them in tabs at the bottom.

There may be a way to do what you want (altering a .png file or something) but a few well thought out toolbars is a lot easier and less cluttery.

Hi Philbo
Do you mean each toolbar has, let’s say, 150 shortcuts? I don’t think I understand what you mean.

I just wanted to have all these shortcuts right in front of me as I do all kinds of editing and creating.

I am fast in Nuendo 10, and very slow in REAPER for the last 6 months or so, which is normal.

Part of being slow in REAPER, is not knowing what the shortcuts are, and browsing all over menus looking for functions I will eventually memorize.

So, all shortcuts, or at least 150 or so shortcuts in front of my eyes at all times would
speed everything up, and I would learn those shortcuts faster.

Yes I’m aware of what you called clutterie, but I would still prefer it, even if transparent
through media items and grid lines.
In this case I would trade clutter with fast learning and faster editing.

I am picturing four rows, 40 shortcuts each row.
160 or so most used shortcuts to editing and actions, alphabetically,
right in front of your eyes at all times.

Once I memorize the shortcuts, I would use the default window, with only grid lines.

Go to "Help" and choose "key bindings and mouse modifiers". Is this what you want ?

No, I wanted a wallpaper like in the earlier Cubase versions, with a picture of all the shortcuts.

When I first started using Reaper I made a printout of the most used shortcut keys and taped it to my desk. A fairly simple workaround.

In total, though, I used it about 5 times...

Put the actions you want to remember in a menu. Assigned shortcuts are displayed in menus by the OS.

I recommend adding actions you create a shortcut for to menus as SOP. So that when you forget that completely intuitive shortcut you made the next day, it's right there.

Not quite a wallpaper...
That could turn into quite the long screensaver though if you had hundreds of shortcuts!
