Default EQUALIZING GAINS (NOT EQ) FOR MANY ITEMS

OK Folks here's the deal....I"m using a simple mic'd Mesa to record my guitar tracks..mostly metal and I have a few tunes which the many tracks have been recorded at different gain levels due to mostly laziness but sometimes while the wife sleeps I'll get inspired so gotta level down a bit...Anyway the question is...What's the best/easiest way to get things at about the same level without having to use vol envelopes all over the place..This includes the EZ drums which seem to record at very high gain levels...maybe I just dove into the drums and could level them down on the initial tracking but I'll look forward to some knowledge and some admonishment :-)
thx

each item has an individual volume level.

By default there is an invisible gain 'line' at the top of the item. If you hover your mouse at the top of the item, the cursor will change, click and drag down.

In preferences > appearance > media there is an option to show a volume knob instead of the item line. This is a little more intuitive.

MIDI item velocities are scaled by the item gain. can be useful at times.

you could 'normalize' all the audio items and then adjust this volume knob down to a reasonable level. would be a very boring start for a mix, so I'm not recommending you do that.

Not sure if this is what you want.. but it's good to know too:

- Install SWS extensions.
- Select all items you want to normalize
- Then run the action command: "Normalize items to RMS (entire item)"
you can also adjut the RMS options for the analysis with the Set RMS analysis/normlize options command.
