Default Macbook relative folder backup issues

So, I have my reaper backups set to save in directory "/backups" which on pc creates the backups folder, and saves backups in it, no problem. On mac, I always get a complaint that it couldn't save the project. Any ideas on why that is, and how to fix it?

EDIT: Apparently, creating a "Backups" folder in the Project directory doesn't help.

Probably Reaper has no access to that folder due to settings in System preferences/Security & privacy?

Standard there's only access to the Documents folder. Anything outside of that needs to be allowed in System preferences.

You might be onto something, thank you! I don't really see where to set that though. I went in system preferences and I don't see that. I'm only using el capitan, so that might be why? Also, I'm trying to save to USB key. Saving the project works fine, but the backups don't seem to work is the problem. So I keep getting these annoying popups like saving the project didn't work.

Owww... USB key.

I suspect you can't set a default path to a removable disk in Reaper. Kind of logical, as the next time, the disk might be unavailable, ruining your backup.

It's not an absolute default path, it's a relative path. So, it can never break. It would always save in the /backups folder of whatever folder the project resides in.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Now I noticed the OP created a Backups folder, while the path is set to /backups

Could it be that simple?

Checked for caps, unfortunately it's not that.

I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas. This will probably be in my mind for a while. If anything comes up, I'll be back.
