In splitting items there is no need (or advantage? ) to move the newly created item into a separate lane
separate program material can be edited together if items stay in their own lanes

If items in lanes are reconsidered a lot of progress could be made for something that should be a well adopted method for musicians who compose(ie. headcharts)
TIL is not viable for musicians who improvise
