Default Tempo 4/4 to 1/4 to 4/4 doesn't want to cooperate

I added a measure of 1/4 as dead-space but going into 4/4 it adds the 1/4 to the next 3 beats to make a measure

I don't want it to add the last measure 1/4 into the next measure 4/4

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

at the next 4/4 marker, maybe you need to tick the "create new measure" box on the marker properties???

guessing, as I don't follow your question 100%.

I'll try that. Thanks. I figure I shouldn't change the tempo to make reaper happy.

I'm not sure if I follow the question either, but I've passed for a similar problem, creating unary time signatures at master envelope.

Trying to add an envelope point at Tempo map it's not possible for "unary" time signature (it makes that "beat complement" not intentable). Instead, you can simple altering at transport bar (Time signature at edit cursor), and reaper gonna allowed it.

Hope it works.
