Default Reaper Power by Geoffrey Francis - still relevant?

Is Reaper Power by Geoffrey Francis still useful for someone new to Reaper, or is it too outdated? Any other books on Reaper out there?

Great book, but by now it's almost a decade old and pretty out of date -- plus it is out of print and being sold on eBay for ridiculous prices.

There's another thread on this.

That's the one I bought, several years ago now. Introduced me to channel splitting for parallel processing and notching and narrow boosting of frequencies of each instrument's 'voice' areas to keep them separate and distinct in a cluttered mix, both of which have become routine parts of my technique.

Much more great information in there, but those two examples really opened some doors in my mixing process.

Oh yes, you never stop learning but concepts in that book were a significant step forward.

EDIT: Bookend panning and other panning tricks like visualizing the 3D sound stage and using panning and EQ and careful reverb application to place sound sources 'higher' or 'lower' as well as closer or further away instead of just left or right were also big eye openers.
