Tell me about it!
Using the theme myself to create a new song has been great. Very happy with it! It also helped point out a couple of things that needed tweaking. Hopefully that's it.

Oh, I'm totally appreciative. Improving usability by actually using it makes perfect sense and benefits us all. Thanks!

But wow what a gorgeous theme! Hats off and well done and all the yes.
These questions are less about your theme and more about Reaper but I feel its pertinent here and there are some really knowledgeable people involved in the thread.
Text Toolbar icons/icons in general: I use them a fair bit. However taking my Windows scaling down to 100% for this theme make them super tiny and pointless.
Any combination I've tried between windows scaling/reapers internal UI scaling either make the theme not look as intended or makes the toolbar icons too small. Do you guys here use toolbars? Has there been any talk about increasing the size of these from the reaper folks? (I know there's a long standing feature request and I know I should beta test but I don't currently)
From what I recall, I had the same problem with the text on the ruler. But that maybe my imagination. Anyways, does anyone echo my sentiments or have advice?
Right now my solution to this is trying to put everything I use into radial menu and do away with the toolbars. p.s. sorry for rambling and not providing a screenshot!
|
I am running Windows at 125% with UI scaling at 1.6 - you can try that if you haven't already and see if that works for you.

b0se, I use "show master track+tempo envelope" all the time. After I remembered my laptop was 4k and loaded up this theme, I noticed the master track looks entirely un-themed and behaves oddly when resized larger. This is apparently in the Default theme and just carried over. Not sure if something could be easily done to make it look more like a normal track, but it would be nice if this could be "fixed."
For some future release...not looking for 1.7 just yet.

Sorry for noobish question, but this theme doesn't work in 1080p right? I tried to use in my 23" monitor and looks like a mess, doesn't even show the knobs properly. I think I'll wait for the 1080p version that people talk about

@b0se
Sir, it just came to mind that if you set up a logo of sorts, then set up yourself on one of the T-shirt services like teespring.....
I would proudly purchase & wear a shirt declaring something to the effect of
My Reaper Runs Smooth
Or some such saying....
I think you have a hit here.
Just throwing it out there

Good news, Nait is back and ready to help with the 1080p version.
We'll get things moving.

Hi
Here's a tricky one for you. On my 5k iMac, Smooth looks gorgeous on the Retina screen.
Except.....
I have a second monitor attached, which is 1080. Normally I use that for plugin windows, the Media Explorer etc. But I also like to have the mixer over on that second screen too.
And with Smooth HiDPI theme, there isn't a layout that works for the mixer once I drag it to the 1080 screen.
Once you've done the 1080 theme, is there any way you could add layouts from that to the HiDPI version so I could have the Arrange Window taking up all my 5k screen as now, and the mixer on the 1080 screen but with sensible sizing?
Thanks

Not sure what you mean about adding layouts, try it with the Default V6 theme. If it works on that, it'll work on Smooth once the standard res is added.

This has been discussed earlier in the thread. Once 'Smooth' is adapted to support 1080 then it should work across screens of different resolutions and rescale itself correctly, just like the default 6.0 theme does.

b0se, I wanted to check with you before I do this, but would it be okay if I prepared the FAQ for you? I've been following this thread since the beginning and have a good idea of initial questions to answer. I can get it into a gist for your review and then you can post it at your discretion.
Don't want to waste an effort though if this is already in progress. I did see it mentioned above, but the last 2 pages have been the same question so I figured I'd volunteer as tribute.

Hi b0se, here's what I mean with the master track in the TCP. This seems to be a holdover from Default v6 itself (which I never used prior to this honestly), so doesn't seem like anything you did. But maybe you can fix it. If you click on the embedded image, you can see how it resizes poorly.

Done.
Limited as to what you can do, so I've made the TCP bar the same height, the dark area below expands with fader and meter.

Nice! Thanks, changing the main window colour (A) affects the surrounding 'border' (B) though, it darkens it as well...
I wonder if that border is set by a black/alpha definition somewhere.

I don't think so.
From the theme images web page:-
use_pngs 1 ; enable png support
use_overlays 1 ; enable button overlay image support (see below)
tinttcp 0 ; overrides tinttcp= line in reaper.ini (REAPER 5.0+)
peaksedges 0 ; overrides peaksedges= line in reaper.ini (REAPER 5.0+)
tcp_folderindent 22 ; size of folder indentation
tcp_heights 3 24 49 72 ; default height of tcp panels, super-collapsed, small, medium, and full heights
tcp_master_minheight 74 ; minimum height of tcp master
tcp_voltext_flags flag maxlen ; flag for volume strings: set 1 for no-dB, 2 for no-fractional-precision, 4 for no + on positive values, 8 for always show two digits of precision. maxlen specifies max length of total string.
tcp_master_voltext_flags flag maxlen ; see tcp_voltext_flags
mcp_voltext_flags flag maxlen ; see tcp_voltext_flags
mcp_master_voltext_flags flag maxlen ; see tcp_voltext_flags
tcp_vupeakwidth 1 ; size (in px) of the peak hold indicator for track panel meter
mcp_vupeakheight 1 ; size (in px) of the peak hold indicator for mixer meter
mcp_mastervupeakheight 1 ; size (in px) of the peak hold indicator for the mixer master meter
tcp_showborders 1 ; set to 0 to disable borders in the track panels (deprecated)
mcp_showborders 1 ; set to 0 to disable borders in the mixer (deprecated)
transport_showborders 1 ; set to 0 to disable borders in the transport
mcp_altmeterpos 1 ; put MCP meters on right side (deprecated)
tcp_vol_zeroline AABBGGRR ; sets the ABGR value of the tcp's volume fader zero line. FFFF0000 would be solid blue, for example (v2.0+) -- note that this used to be documented incorrectly.
tcp_pan_zeroline AABBGGRR ; tcp pan fader zero line color (v2.0+)
tcp_width_zeroline AABBGGRR ; tcp width fader zero line color
mcp_vol_zeroline AABBGGRR ; mcp vol fader zero line color (v2.0+)
mcp_pan_zeroline AABBGGRR ; mcp pan fader zero line color (v2.0+)
mcp_width_zeroline AABBGGRR ; mcp width fader zero line color
trans_speed_zeroline AABBGGRR ; transport speed fader zero line color (v2.0+)
item_volknobfg AABBGGRR parm2 parm3 ; item volume knob, parm2 is zero-gain color, parm3 is pushed color
envcp_min_height 24 ; minimum envelope panel height
mcp_min_height 230 ; minimum mixer panel height
no_meter_reclbl 1 ; don't show tcp meter record-input label
gen_pan_zeroline AABBGGRR ; general pan fader zero line color
gen_vol_zeroline AABBGGRR ; general vol fader zero line color
You can see the colour related stuff there but I can't see anything related to backgrounds.
I had a look at the default V5 and V6 themes and that area appears to be the same colour.
Looking at the "classic_1.x" theme, that is different for some reason.
We need a "power user" to step in here...

That's odd, I tried the same - no change at all (even with them in the 200 folder).
Could be a HiDPI bug?

Edit rtconfig
tcp_folderindent 0 to something bigger
edit
above activates standard theme indent that uses those images but still gives space, must be somewhere else in code
