maybe I should go on the French thread with auto translate set, there seems some nice music there
Hi Eddy you'll be welcome on the french forum but might disappointed as the proportion of type of music is the same. I put this thread here because of the number, to reach a maximum of participant and I enjoy the way it goes.

Many people coming. Listening at each others musics.

I'm so happy with that. Trying to respond to every new one at the beginning but now I'm a bit lost.

It will continue by itself.

Bye

Hi Robin.

Thanks for the gift. Maybe I'll use some of it. I was a bit afraid by the "forest" thing, but I can hear you got some very contemporary things, over there, in the North.

I've followed the link to your site. Very complete variety of jobs. I wasn't sure to understand ; are you composing / playing too ?

Take care, bye.

PS : Was a bit disappointed by the YT channel

Bye

thanks for listening but no need to comment - too much work for you

Inspired by your thread I have made a post in the music subforum for people to post contemporary classical / conceptual / non-pop etc. I hope that it will increase the visibility and communication of people using Reaper outside of the mainly blues / rock / metal thing that I have noticed

Enjoyed listening to your Syria2 again today

all the best, Eddy

Hi Blade.

See. They hear you. Some material arrives, fresh from this morning, by the Northern way .

I'm so near from your method sometimes, not really with music but with piece of sounds that I take on "freesound". Then slice, expand, inverse, whatever, and put some chords on it. But in that case, I usually previously have an idea. Like in the one below where I had just a sentence of a Eastern European language that seduced me :

with which I've done this one :

I'm probably in the 0.6 % too.

Nice work. It's ideas that I appreciate and walk away with in my head after I listen to a piece of music. I like that some speech inspired you to make some music - things like that are what's it's all about to me.

Default NeverBeenInARiot

A couple of tracks under my NeverBeenInARiot moniker - I was really into early Warp Records releases, esp. the Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove material, and that sound still influences the sound of NBIAR.

https://soundcloud.com/neverbeeninariot

I'm working on a electro-dub style album at the moment under a different name, aided and abetted by nofish's Dub Siren VSTi They're all work in progress at the moment, but I might post up a couple of snippets if the above tracks don't get assassinated

Yeah I do a fair amount of mastering for the Touched record label. Plaid have contributed some compilation tracks and a few remixes here and there so I've ended up adding them to my client list

Yes,sorry forgot to +add - HOW_ would you master that track?,or do you think it actually needs that process at all? Please dissect that for me? Interested with what a master would do there. =)

My definition of mastering is to make a piece of work 'suitable for distribution'. One could argue that if you're only ever intending your music to be heard by yourself then it doesn't need mastering as such.

One of the main things a mastering engineer is doing is correcting for the environment the music was written/mixed in. A given space may be exaggerating or hiding certain frequencies which can lead to an unbalanced sounding mix. The audience have expectations about what music 'sounds' like and much of what we do is subtle corrections for this. This may mean that a master comes back sounding hardly any different - this will be credit to an artist

It's all about a second pair of very experienced ears as a quality control and preparation for manufacture in a nutshell.

Hi Robin.

Sorry I was confused by "all yours truly"

Wasn't sure if it was a "Manner of speaking" or not. "The way I use English sorry".

....makes me think of something for our listeners :

Thanks for the invite to this thread, after hearing some of the awesome music in this thread I'm pretty sure I'm out of place, tho'!.

My original post:

(Be warned, this is a really silly song and may be considered NSFW in today's climate)

https://soundcloud.com/bartman68/gra...christmas-2017

This is a song I recorded in Reaper (I originally demo'ed it in Audition before I saw the light).
Please take a listen to the mix, as I KNOW how dumb the actual song is and am more interested in the Good/Bad/Ugly of how it sounds sonically:

Hi Bart. You're welcome. I didn't lie...

All level and genre are welcome.

Hearing the music I'm doing and giving my opinion to people who has already several album for sale since 15 years makes me a little uncomfortable...

Yes, something lost in translation! I meant that I was the sole participant in all that music composition/production. However, inspiration is always in your head, in through the ears, out through your neurons.

Thats what I interpreted you to be looking for.

I enjoyed your music also. You are a prolific composer.

Hi Robin.

In fact, that was the point.

Thanx for the compliments but as I say in the post above this one :

Makes me a little shy now...

Default some rock, blues, jazz

An album of tunes I made this past fall.....I played all instruments except drums. Some of the songs are kinda trite and presumptuous but I was aiming for a raw, demo kind of sound.

Hi Robert.

The "Time Ripple" is a nice piece of different way to see jazz. Very eclectic.

I really liked the "Soft Acoustic Adventures" album too. Very soft.

How come you can be that prolific. 4 albums in seven months ?

Nice work. Thanx for sharing.

Default Rule by lying

Hi there.

Mostly work on EQ, filters, pitch...

Thanx for listening. Bye

Well the prolific-ness I think comes from figuring out how to write stuff using as many of the modes as possible. It gives you alot more to work with as opposed to the usual major/minor tonality of Aeolian and Ionian. Unfortunately for me the STYLE I write in is pretty narrow. I don't do love songs, pop, rock, blues, etc. I like how melody and harmony work together in exotic modes. It's nearly endless what you can do.

Hi jeranx.

don't know how I missed this thread for so long, but it seemed to come just at the right time, as I just finished two albums. But I had a listen to your songs and I don't think it's really up your alley. But one of my older songs might interest you:

https://soundcloud.com/nowo/the-road-to
I've always felt it would make a good song for a soundtrack.

This soundtrack quality is also what I hear in your songs (although I haven't had time to listen to all yet). Tide is a great example, made even better through the great video - did you do that yourself?
Imhotep and Finale are other great examples.

Going in the direction of ambient / downtempo, here are a few songs (still work in progress) that are preliminary electronic, but quite slow and might just still be interesting for you:
https://soundcloud.com/nowo/darkness-falling-lightly
https://soundcloud.com/nowo/soaring-...hadowy-forests
https://soundcloud.com/nowo/eternity-as-one-day

There is also an album on bandcamp with downtempo songs: Dark Matter

And speaking of bandcamp ... here's the shameless plug for my latest releases:

1) Ancient Gems - a collection of rock/pop songs
2) Ancient Gems - acoustic - an EP with a acoustic versions of some of the songs from Ancient Gems

These three "official" albums can also be found in my signature.

Anyway, have a great and musically productive new year, I'm now going to listen to more of the links I found thanks to your great thread!

Hi there and Happy Nowo Year to you too. (I'm so funny)

First never take any offense of what I say, I like to play with words but English, as you, isn't my first language, so there could be some misunderstanding.

You don't know what material my alley is made of. Listening to your work, I can say that, not all, but a good part of it is very near of my taste in terms of music.

In fact, this "Road" has driven me somewhere. I'm crazy about strings generally and it suits very well my "Tide" with this sea sound. I've liked your "Eternity as One Day" too very much.

I'll be franck, saying I'm not very fan of your voice but I like especially some of your pieces where this feminine voice appears. It really suits your style of music.

Wow, "Droning in Floods" at the moment, really nice.

You're right with your choice, "Darkness.." and "Soaring..." are cool too.

Very good job, if I can say with my 5 years experience in Midi-ing music.

Thanx for your comment and participation. Bye

PS : I thought this thread was dead. Thanx again for making it alive again

Would be appreciate to collect them here. Any style from Ambient, Classical, Experimental, any..

Please share your links for Bandcamp, Hearthis, Soundcloud, etc...

Will return and comment if you like. Thanx
Bye
I'm not sure you have an hour to spend

Hi Slava.
I don't know how but I was on your Soundclick page maybe a year ago, probably jumping from links to links starting from Soundcloud at that time.

I'm about to live maybe a few hundreds of hours , who knows, and I definitely have one to listen again to your works. Now on the "Aria for 2 cellos". As said on the previous post, I'm really fond of strings, especially Bach and Cellos, so it hasn't been painful.
I can see you are playing a lot of different style (gives me ideas), in a nice way anytime. Some masterpiece in there.

Thanx for sharing

PS Maybe I'll do like you on Soundcloud, my account is full too.

Hi Franck.

Ben tu vois (le post au dessus du tien), ce thread devient Anglo/French.

Not angry at all, but you know my level technically, so that it's difficult for me to intervene on those kind of subjects. As it looks we're not welcome or supposed to submit our composition, it seems there's nothing left for me to do there except saying one or two funny things, where i'll be warn for being off the topic.....
See what I mean.

I'm very happy to hear you're preparing something new (you should have put a link for us to hear you).
You'll match your audience here with a title like this. Waiting for this.

See you @+

Hi Conscious.

Don't remember if I already told you here or in the French part.
I took advantage of the opportunity to put a little Cure cover in my ears, again.
Really nice work with Mario. Joli pamphlet/ode à la liberté (don't know these words in English).

Nice clip too.

PS Still wondering how a homeless guy can feed 6 dogs.

Thanx for sharing, Bye

Don't worry, I've been on international boards for a very long time now, so I've got a very high offence threshold

Thanks for the feedback! I had forgotten about The Road to ... until I listened to your songs before posting. I had planned to record a few more songs in this vein, but then it got much more electronic. Even that has been on the back burner for the last few years as I was first working on my virtual band project and then the solo albums.

Don't worry, I'm myself not the biggest fan of my voice, although I have to admit I think that it's actually come out quite well on these albums. At the end of the day, Ancient Gems is a vanity project, as I wanted to have these songs in a state that I always thought they should be. My virtual band Growing Old Disgracefully was mostly founded so I could have my songs sung by actual singers. I also think that collaboration normally yields better results than just working on my own. But whereas I can play all other instruments fairly well at least in a studio environment and then do the rest in post-production , there's only so much I can do to my voice. However, singers, or rather their unavailability for this project, meant that I decided to take some time out and work on the current project.

Anyway, now that the project that turned out much bigger than originally anticipated is out of the way, I'll finish the current batch of downtempo electronica songs and revive Growing Old Disgracefully.

Have a good weekend!

We lacked this kind of music for the moment and it's cool we'll have for everybody's ears.
