Default Beach Boys Style song (with video)

Here is a song we did in the style of the Beach Boys' early stuff, but with a modern twist to the lyrics....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-ia-uOnVEY

Everything done inside Reaper apart from the mastering, done in Wavosaur.

Okay, the video got cats. That's always a win. But the rest is also really funny and well made. The weekend can begin. And I'm in a perfect good mood now. Many thanks.

And of course it is a clever twist in the lyrics.

Greetings from Cologne

That's it. Perfect spirit. Just the main that's a bit too harsh regarding Wilson's more angelic one.
But very good work anyway. Congrats.

Thanks Eliseat, mschnell and Barrymk for the listens and the comments, really appreciated.

JohnnyMusic, Thank you - Well the video is for the most part licensed footage edited together in a particular way.

Benf, thank you for saying you think we captured the spirit, the lyrics are goofy but we have respect for the music. The vocals are not an attempt to mimic Brian, but an impression of Mike Love. There is a little bit of Brian in a falsetto at one point and the organ solo is done in Brian's fun and very simple style of soloing at the time. The composition itself too similar to Brian's early style (imagined the verse to be a Love / Wilson collab and the bridge to be written by Brian) but lead vocally it's aiming at Mike Love.

Very cool! Very fun! Love the clean guitar sound. I've NEVER been able to find that tone! It always ends up sounding like it's over compressed and dull or WAY too much distortion no matter what the setting, even when NOT using compression! So I admire that you found that.

Good job!

Oh well, too bad about the girls.
I should mention it sounds good, too! Guitar at the beginning is really good.
But I'm not a beach boys expert if you were trying to emulate the sound of one of their recording from the 60s.
I just listened to surfin safari. The guitar is a litte more awash in reverb on that and the recording is less bright in the highs and upper mids, not too surprising.
Nice work.

Thank you....You can get that sound by running a strat through a Vox amp, in this case it's a small Vox Pathfinder 15R.
That will give you VERY clean and very uncompressed sound.

To crunch it a little bit and make it a little bit rounder and vintage, the processing was then some saturation in Reaper and IK Multimedia's Mic Room (SM57 to Tube mic configuration).

Yes, what we talked about was going for a 'remastered Beach Boys' vintage sound. Some of the elements you hear in their old stuff but with a little more modern overall response.

Thanks for listening.

Yes, the last 3 videos on the channel are parodies / tributes to specific artists. Thanks for listening

My DRRI breaks up too quickly to get a decent clean sound. My Tele sounds pretty clean through it but my Les Paul just can't be tamed! It came down to the DRRI or an AC30. One day, surely I will learn to listen to my gut...

Yeah....if you want a cheap practice amp that also records cleans extremely well, get a used Vox Pathfinder 15r. Has to be the 15r version.

You can record quiet with it too without it affecting the sound.

The price + size + the fact that it's solid state makes some people assume it must be no good, but it's a great clean recording amp.
