Default Audio Playback Issues

Hi,

I got an odd problem. I just finished a mix and the following happens;
When I start the song, after about 5-6 seconds, some audio files stutter or completely stop playing for about half a second. It sounds like the CPU is overloaded and can't process fast enough.
The odd thing is this;
I checked my CPU with different metering programs. My CPU's peak is at 30%.
I also checked the RAM but there's nothing wrong or overloaded either. So, I tested the audio files but they're fine as well.
If I remove/disable nearly all plugins the audio is fine.
To make sure it's really nothing about the CPU or RAM, I loaded an old project with more audio files and more processing going on which is working totally fine.
The issue is only during the playback, the rendering works perfect.

If anyone has an idea what to do I appreciate it, as I'm running out of ideas as changing buffer size etc.

Thanks for reading and greetings;
Filmmelody

Hey, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I am a longtime Reapers/Windows user who switched to Mac a year ago (so that I could use a UA Apollo 8 Thunderbolt) and now, in projects with a somewhat heavy plugin load I am starting, out of nowhere, to experience bad glitching and stuttering.

I had the same problem with my Mac Pro 12 cores 64Gb Ram. I did lots of tests and the only way to avoid stuttering or other troubles, is to increase the buffer size to 4096. Of coarse this setup is only for mix. But it works perfectly.
