I have to agree. My resolution is rather low compared to monitors my colleagues use.
Especially the vertical solution of only 1440. Most colleagues use several 4K
monitors.

Agreed with the above sentiments. Performance should matter more than theme plans. (And you already know what I think about that theme.)

That would be a problem because people would lose their folder depth indication. But if they were optionally okay with that, then sure why not?

Because the folder indent indicator is a part of the WALTER themed elements within the V6 theme, hence user-variable indent amounts etc etc.

I agree with what has been said already,that better performance outweighs WT's plans.
Especially,as improved UI-performance improves the workings of his theme as well.

It's painful,especially as you've already done so much for the new themeing-capabilities,but in the long run, it benefits us all, I think.
