Default Alice's Pearl Garden - Live

We put together and played a show last night for a local benefit that was also a reunion show for several bands we've all played in various forms (We raised over 5k yay). I tossed up 5 cameras, adjusted them best I could, hit record, jumped on stage, grabbed my guitar and hoped for the best... As far as the audio, cut me some slack as it's 100% live and I just massaged audio from the video cameras. I thought someone was getting me a recording from the console but that didn't happen.

The sound is good, not least the drums. Camera sound? The things they can do today. Band/music good too. Well done.

Yea, on board camera audio via two Sony 6400s and I bought one of these to connect to each one:

I was afraid the camera would have a HPF on it but looks like it doesn't since that audio is untouched other than a little compression. Then there is an Insta 360 camera sitting on floor at front of stage, GoPro 7 on drum monitor, and someone standing in the balcony with a Nikon D7500.

I also had my Zoom H4n front of stage but it sounded like crap due to position; the cameras were recording audio as a backup plan thankfully.

Audio quality was actually very good to my ear, really good job of syncing the audio from all the different video clips.

What video editor did you use for that?

Hey man... I used Davinci Resolve - I'm about used to syncing at this point, I do all the alignment manually because it's expensive to wirelessly sync time code to all those cameras and is not possible for a couple of them - not in any practical sense anyway. I just have to make sure I have the audio record level for all cameras low enough so that I can see the peaks and valleys in the wave forms. If I have that I can usually pull it off.

Once I have all that synced up, I lock the timeline from left/right movement and at that point it's just a matter of choosing which camera to cut to and so on. I could have color graded it better but it's rock and roll and I've got 1/2 terabyte of video to go through. I'm just happy the audio is OK, I spent a lot of time preparing hoping nothing would go wrong, when I pulled up what was supposed to be the good audio and it sucked, I had that terrible sinking feeling until I found the better camera audio.

Very cool.

One of the things I like about Power Director is how easy it is to sync audio.

I can place the video clip on one track, then take the audio I recorded through Reaper on another track, highlight both tracks and click on the "Sync Audio" button and it syncs everything up. I then delete the audio from the video clip and produce the movie using the Reaper audio.

Never tried it with as many different clips as you have here, but I've been playing around with the idea of recording different guitar and bass parts against a green screen and then syncing them all up, like I'm some type of cloned band.

Yea, Resolve has that but it wants you to create a multi-cam clip and I'm not sure how it handles it when all the shots are differing lengths, meaning one camera is just 20 second shots here and there. This newest rev in version 16 may have something better and I overlooked, but I like my multi-cams on separate video tracks because it gives me more freedom than a single container.

It was a great time, 3 bands and multiple lineups of those bands, we were all part of whatever "the scene" was back then so it was incredibly nice to hang out with all these very fine musicians and wonderful people whom I haven't seen in as long.

It felt like home.

Very well produced, both multi cam editing and surprisingly good off-the-air sound (well done for camera mics for not shitting themselves on loud sounds). Looks like a show with good atmosphere too
