Default Happy Xmas (war is over).. metal

Some of you will hate me for this, as this song is sacred for many people around these parts... I have an excuse though, I made this track for a Christmas show I'll be giving soon.

They are expecting me to sing this song, as i do an acoustic version of it every single year.. But this time, they won't know what hit them lol. I'm gonna use a karaoke version of this, bust out my Les Paul and melt their faces

Does the balance sound good to you?

This is going to be blaring out of huge club speakers while I scream at th top of my lungs.. and I don't have huge club speakers at home...

100% made in reaper by yours truly...

-------edit-------

I ended up asking my friend Kelly to sing it, and she naiiiiiled it! you can check it out here :

The crowd went nuts!

first, nice job, I could see you singing this with santa hat on, mic in one hand, splashy egg nog in the other

2 things that stood out the most:

the vocals are too loud/harsh, especially during the higher-pitched part it gets very loud

the kick drum sound could be louder or maybe just a lot more aggressive/clicky to cut through

good luck dude!

Cool stuff, great vocals.
Vocals: I think it would sound better one or two semi tones lower?
Guitars: That solo guitar didn't attract me
Double the rythm guitars and put the solo in the middle?

Salut.

hehehe

I basically told him to add growl to the vocal and go full on with the heavy metal violent emotion: scare the crap out of the crowd!

Never let the vocalist do the mix lol! OK, fine. I'll pull back the vocals.. a little..

And the kick, yeah, I know exactly what you mean, and i can fix that quite easily, me thinks...

Well, there will be two of us on stage, and that's actually a pretty great idea lol! I'll talk about it to my partner

Oh, you mean the rhythm guitars with the over the top harmonics? yeah, they are ear piercing.. that's pretty much the point.. but yeah, I can tame them down.

Vocals.. actually, this is going to be a duet, and my partner is a girl with a pretty high range.. I'll just do the lower harmonies, and we should be fine .. I am at the top of my range on that one for sure.

Juuuuust in case you guys are interested, I filmed the show..

I tapped my portable DAW in the house mixer's stereo out, and the result aint too shabby!

Kelly, my partner in crime just belted like her life depended on it! OMG! She's not a metal singer at all, but she's got that "blues mama" vibe that fits the song really well!
I
thanks to everyone for the advice I did mess with the kick to make it more clicky, and I did mess with the guitar placement a bit..

I might.. um.. Beg her to do more metal down the road

The camera is horrendous though, and you can't see the crowd, as they were all behind it.. But they loooooooved it! I've never seen a bunch of older, folk music loving chaps so excited and happy after a metal song lol!

enjoy!
